eliminate 'pinch zoom'

i have tried many ways to get rid of the pinch zoom feature. i'm willing to try again. i'll try anything short of throwing my laptop out the window. please help.

@nush, Surely you just need to turn it off here? Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad, click on 'scroll & zoom' to expand it's options.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
when i go to bluetooth and other devices there is no touchpad option

If there is any touchpad software (such as Synaptic touchpad), see if there is any setting there. Alternatively you can try uninstalling the software and restart.

In my father's old laptop the touchpad was so sensitive that the cursor moved as he tried to type in Word. It could not be disabled, do he stuck a post-it on the touchpad and used a USB mouse. Desperate times call for desperate measures :p

I had a Notebook sold by MCE [Media Computers] back in the mid-'90s I had to do that with, used doubled card stock. Then later Notebooks started having the Fn + Fx key combinations to turn it off, what my wife has to use to keep her thumb from doing things. Disabling in Device Manager may also help. This is for my rehabbed HP Laptop 15:

Your specs say you have a Dell Latitude, but don't say which one.

My Latitude 5410 has an Alps touchpad. It appears in Device Manager under Human Interface Devices. There's also an icon in the system tray (if not, look in in 'show hidden icons').

If you go to Dell Support and enter your service tag you should be able to find the required drivers specific to your device, as I can for mine.

Yes, I know I could deactivate it from BIOS or Device Manager, but this is too advanced to teach my father doing that. If you remove the back cover you could also simply disconnect the touchpad flex cable, but I didn't want a permanent solution, I wanted to be able to activate it again when needed.

Try registry:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PrecisionTouchPad

Dword32 (if it doesn’t exist, create it):

ZoomEnabled
0 = Disabled
ffffffff = Enabled

If this works, you can create reg keys for both options and then it can be done by just double clicking one.

*May need to restart explorer or log off/logon to take effect*
