Explanation of UEFI/BIOS settings

Has anyone got a link to a website that has an explanation of UEFI/BIOS settings?

BIOS / UEFI is the computer's firmware that configures the machine's hardware ready for use by the operating system. It permits User configuration and also is responsible for the POST (Power On Self Test) that occurs at every start up.

Some firmwares have a menu section dedicated to "overclocking" of components such as CPU and RAM clock speeds. Overclocking is a customisation that allows the components run faster than the manufacturers recommendations. Because Overclocking stresses the hardware components, it is really only suitable for high-end components, thus this feature is generally only available on high-end motherboards.

BIOS settings across motherboard manufacturers have many common elements but are named and organized differently and the different manufacturers may choose specific settings to hid or expose. So if that is what you are looking for, it is difficult to say without knowing the system/motherboard.

What you asked is a bit nebulous. What exactly are you looking for?

I assumed the Poster wanted explanation on all the Settings. This is difficult to provide because available user documentation on UEFI/BIOS is so poor and motherboard menu layouts and features vary considerably.
You really learn BIOS by understanding how the individual components work inside a computer, and then learning that some of their product features can be user configured. Like I also said, it is worthwhile looking at the BIOS section of the motherboard manual for a list of what can be changed.

I am just trying to find out what the OP wants, not speculate about it

Hello, if you go to advanced restart options in Windows 11, you can press that, then when it si in the blue settings page, you press advanced, uefi settings. If you go to your manufacture website, you can find shortkeys to access that bios or uefi. Have a good day! If that this not your question, we await your reply.

I was looking at the plethora of settings not knowing what most of them did. I know how to get to the UEFI.

Please see "How to Use BIOS" in the first link in my first post in this thread. That explains the some of sort of things you can do in BIOS. What it does not do is describe what is in your motherboards BIOS - you'd need the user manual for that, or perhaps you could upload a picture.

That is what I was afraid of. Best to ask specific questions about specific sections and their settings.
