External mic issues

Sound from my external mic is not recognized by my pc. Everything was working, but today it isn't. I assume some windows update or nvidia driver install(as it also has NVIDIA high definition audio) messed it up. Windows playback device->recording shows my mic(it's set as a default recording device), but the voice isn't registered(bar doesn't move) but when I try with Windows Voice recorder I can hear my voice perfectly. What's going on here?

Check in Settings, Applications, Installed Applications for any software related to the audio card and uninstall it. Restart and let Windows find the audio drivers. See if it works. If it doesn't work or if you want to enable more features go at manufacturer's support site and download latest audio drivers. Install this and restart.

    Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, no SSE4.2, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.

Nvidia HD audio and Realtek (on-board) audio drivers tend to conflict each other. Do a clean install of your video driver.
Select Custom Installation and un-check HD Audio Driver. Then do as recommended above.
