Solved External mouse?


Hi There,

I just like to add this. If you want a mouse to work on multiple devices look for one that has the button to switch between them ON TOP.
Lots of mouses have these buttons under the mouse and this becomes annoying real fast.
I am using a Logitech M590 Silent mouse. 2x BT and 1 UR.

Your choice for sure but everyone had suggested Logitech on here and you choose Dell. I’ve no doubt that the Dell will be suitable for your needs which now have expanded to a combi 🤔 but I’d still go with a Logi set up all day long

I agree I added the keyboard. I like Logitech MX3 mouse but not the keyboard.

I prefer one with soft keys, not that makes noises. Can't find one in logi brand..

Definitely the best mouse I've found to date and I have the choice to use the dongle or blue tooth. Both work equally well for me.

The Logi MX Keys is without doubt the best keyboard I've ever used, and in over 40 years in the IT industry, I've used a whole lot of keyboards. Paired with my MX Master 3 Mouse and using the Logi Flow software across multiple systems and across multiple OS's it makes the best combi I've used

+ A BT mouse does not take a USB port
+ A BT mouse will work on different devices without moving the UR.

- A BT dongle does not work in WinPE Mode for apps like Macrium Reflect.
- BT can be a bit finicky and sometimes you need to re-pair if swapping devices. Granted, you have to move UR but that is easy.

I use Winpe a lot, and so I prefer the UR mouse personally, but I tend to use a BT mouse for my travel laptop, as easier to lose UR device (most have a compartment in battery section though to hold UR).

Many mouses (mice?) are dual UR/BT compatible these days. I only buy them now, so if UR gets mislaid, I can revert to BT.

Unless your computer does not have Bluetooth. If it doesn't, a dongle is necessary. Although, I don't think I've ever seen a laptop without bluetooth capability. Many desktops do not have it, including mine.

I use an external mouse with a laptop only when gaming. It's usually a wired one but sometimes Bluetooth. Wired is more reliable. I have never used an external keyboard. I don't see the point of that.

I don't know if this translates to the keyboard/mouse side, but I have a Logitech headset that can work with either dongle or BT. I've configured it both ways and find the dongle works much better than the BT, at least for this device.
