See post #6. The machine will take one 2280 M.2 drive, plus one 2230. "Alexey2912" wants a 2230 one. I wish him/her/it good luck with that.

I believe the 2230 format is basically obsolete. I suggest not waiting for a new one to come to market.

The OP can keep on to the 2230 the 2230 stock SSD, then it will be his storage drive, General usage (storing files, photos, videos, audio) do not makes them faster to run on a faster SSD. Programs should go to the slower SSD (if you rarely open it) and store the frequently run programs to the faster SSD. If you want to store some games, get a large (1 TB) 2230 SSD and make it your Steam game library.

But it's good to put Windows to the faster SSD.

Why get a 1TB 2230 drive when they're about three times the price of a 1TB 2280 drive? If the OP already has a 2230 SSD, just keep it, which I think you mentioned. I wouldn't get a larger 2230, though, because it's so expensive. The OP could get a 2TB 2280 SSD for that matter and still spend less.

I don't know, even 2230 1TB is none of the existence on consumers.
I found it, but it's marked as "business" low powered SSDs.

Is saw it's interior. Samsung 970 Evo Plus is of larger size vs. the slot 1 SSD. It won't fit.

Thought slot 2 would, but it too won't the standard Evo Plus.

Why not? Slot 1 on your laptop will take a 2280 M.2, just move your existing one to slot 2 which is 2230 only

The Samsung write speed is quicker I believe but you honestly wouldn't notice the difference in the real world

You can see it by checking your motherboard, some boards say M_2-1, and checking the form factor of the slot
