File explorer "see more" tab always opens upwards 24H2

I had one desktop open upward and the other opened downward. Now that both of my computers have been updated to build 27729 they both open upward. I found it a pain so in SAB I changed the setting from Proper 11 to Kinda 10.

I'm running the Canary builds and I just tried it on my other desktop and after a restart it worked. I used the Vivetool GUI and there are two entries for that I.D. I disabled both of them. I'm going to try it on this desktop.

Edit: The Vivetool workaround solved the dropdown problem on both of my desktop computers.

Quite a simple remedy that I found :-
The menu opening upwards is caused by the feature with the ID 51960011. As a workaround, you can deactivate the function in question using the vivetool.

To do this, download the vivetool from GitHub and unzip it into a folder.
Then open a command prompt with administrative rights (press cmd + Shift key when calling).
In the command prompt, navigate to the relevant folder with the vivetool and then enter the following command:
vivetool.exe /disable /id:51960011

If the message "Function configuration(s) successfully set" (or similar) is displayed, restart Windows 11. The menu should then open downwards. I have tested it in my VM – it works.

Have fixed 4 laptops and one desktop no problems

This is a widely reported bug in version 24H2, currently there is no fix released for this.

You can certainly scroll up and down through the options with the cursor keys, but you can't see them , so it's hardly a solution!!

tested this on a 24h2 test machine, and it does indeed work. i didnt have to restart the pc, only restart explorer afterward. BUT... what exactly is this feature ID? i looked online and in the vivetool gui and cannot find a description.... curious what it actually disables

I'm thinking it was a failed experiment and MS forgot to remove it.

Not quite true - a fix was issued but only works if your scaling is an exact 100% multiple e.g. 100% or 200%.

Not even MS knows what 51960011 was supposed to fix. From what I see it doesn't fix anything.🤣
All it actually does is adding this extra stupid bug on the 3 dots menu opening in the wrong direction.
Still the guys at MS are ignoring the facts. Are they smoking pot? 😝😝🤬🤬
