It's been awhile since I dual booted two OS's so I don't remember. If she uses Fast Start that might make a difference also.

That is normal and has to do with the fact you are booting in EFI mode and nothing to do with you needing to pay for EasyBCD.

But isn't UEFI what I should be booting with?

If you read it again you will see that it says that due to limitations set by Microsoft many of EasyBCD's multiboot features are disabled. This is because of Microsoft and not EasyBCD. EasyBCD does work and even if you donated you would still get the warning box.

So, at this point, it looks like Microsoft is disabling the competition again! Kind of what they did to Netscape and got sued for in the UK.

So, can I change from EFI to UEFI? Or am I stuck with HP's default?

Yes it is. It is only stating that some of EasyBCD's option are disabled. I have no idea what is disabled. I just know EasyBCD works.

Don't make any changes for EFI or UEFI. Just make the changes I showed you about selecting Metro and it should change your boot menu from the Windows 7 boot menu to the new Metro boot menu.

I've done everything you suggested, and so far, things are the same. EasyBCD doesn't tell me it can't do that, so I'm not sure if what I've tried is disabled by Microsoft or what.

It didn't. Metro is checked.

Did you save the setting to use Metro? If you did it should have worked.

If I uncheck the Metro menu option and click save, this image is similar to what I see when I restart my computer.

This is just an image I found on the internet. My boot options are Windows 11, Macrium Reflect Recovery and Safe Mode.

Which is what I want.

I went back into my Windows 10 Production partition and made sure my "changes" were saved. I also installed EasyBCD on this Windows 11 partition and made sure Metro was checked, then saved that too.

I've restarted the machine, but I think maybe I should do a "cold boot" to be sure.

A thought just occurred! Could it be that since I installed from within Windows 10, that could be the reason I can't get a "regular" dual boot to happen?

The only thing I've been able to make stick is that Windows 10 is the default OS when booting.

Final results:

If I'm in Windows 11 and shut down, reboot, the menu doesn't show up; I'm rebooted into Windows 11.

If I'm in Windows 10 and shut down, reboot, the menu doesn't show up; I'm rebooted into Windows 10.

I'm in Windows 10 and will reboot once more.

Same results, so I've messed something up in EasyBCD.

I can, though, Restart and see the choice between the two.

Are you using Fast Startup in Windows 10? I just tried changing the Metro option in EasyBCD and it changed the boot menu for me. You could also try searching for How to restore the Windows 10 boot menu.
