Formatting a Brand New USB Flash Drive?

@newmann is having trouble trying to figure out how to use his old USB external battery pack with his new laptop so I doubt he wants to tackle using an external drive just to checkout two flash drives. It would be easier for @newmann to just send the drives back and order from a reputable dealer.

Could well be. I was directing my comments to everyone here, pointing out an alternative method for initializing the disk. The OP can choose whatever solution they wish. Never hurts to have multiple options.

I do understand your post. I'm just trying to keep it at a level that newmann can understand. From this thread and another thread, I'm trying to help them with, I have to assume they know very little about computers.
