Graphics Drivers installation before signing in to my MS Account?

I did a clean install of Windows 11 and once I got to the Sign In to Your Microsoft Account prompt I noticed that it was already installing the graphics drivers as my screen started flickering and resizing itself before even booting to the Windows desktop.

My question is, how can this be possible without booting to the Windows desktop?

Does the Windows Update check for driver updates even by not booting into the desktop environment?

Just wondering from where these graphics drivers are downloaded from even when at the Sign-In to Microsoft account prompt before the Windows desktop environment.

Yes.
Otherwise your screen would remain as a VGA display with little resolution and 16 or 256 colors max.
Whether generic or not, some GPU software has to be loaded before you are able to use the OS.

OK, good to know as I don't have to save the driver installation setup files to my external USB flash drive as it will download and install it automatically right after the Windows installation.

It's never a bad idea to save those either way.
Make sure you run Windows Update again as well or go to your PC manufacturer's web site.

Windows Update runs as a normal background service, regardless of whether anyone's logged on or not.

Even if you sat there forever at the OOBE screen, all system level processes are running. It's entirely possible that WU gets done finding a new graphics driver, because it prioritizes certain update types over others. For example, it does drivers and Defender updates first.

The only driver that I always keep saved on the USB flash drive for my machine is the WiFi network driver.

Because sometimes I heard of people not seeing the list of available WiFi networks from the OOBE during the installation process.

How do I install the graphics driver without extracting the files? Because before, it took very long for the driver setup file to first extract the files.
