A few days I noticed that my 120GB system partition went from 20GB to 100GB. It was caused by 80GB of OneDrive's logs!

Obviously I removed it and since it repeats, I set it to remove it regularly.

Then my fans were running loud for days, I assumed it's due to hot weather, but I have just noticed CPU at 80% nonstop.
And yet again, it is caused by OneDrive's sync service. It has written 412GB to disk, just in 2 hours! I have 23GB files only.

My OneDrive Logs size is 58 MB but I already disabled file syncing and file saving into OneDrive. Sorry can't tell whether what's happening to you is happening to me or not.

Which files are growing can generally tell you what's wrong.

If it's .etl files, it's often because OneDrive is stuck in a loop (repeated retries, sync errors, authentication issues, etc.). Close OneDrive and start it up again. If the files continue to grow, resetting OneDrive is not a bad idea.

If it's .log files, you can usually look in the largest one and find the culprit: authentication issues, the same file failing to sync, etc.

ODL are diagnostic logs for sync issues. If you can't reset, you may need to remove OneDrive and re-install it.

If you don't understand OneDrive and how it works, that's exactly what to do. You will only get yourself in trouble and potentially even lose data.

Millions of users and businesses use OneDrive. I've used OneDrive for over 20 years and wouldn't be without my 1 Terabyte of cloud OneDrive. That's the beauty of Windows; you can use it the way you want. :wink:

I have no problem with the concept cloud storage.. i have problem when its not end-to-end encrypted.
Cloud act or EU e-Evidence Regulation or other..... the data should not be able to be obtained by anyone then the owner of the data.

OneDrive is end-to-end encrypted and uses AES 256-bit encryption. Your concern would be that Microsoft holds the encryption key. For my use of OneDrive that doesn't concern me at all. As they say, Your Mileage May Vary. :wink:
