Pretty sure you can use Hasleo Restore in partition mode - you can restore individual partitions without deleting exsting partitions on target BUT you can only restore one partition at a time which is annoying. I will test it.

It's disk that was supposed to be bootable with Insider Beta.

Well, I just restored a backup of my OS drive to a drive that had existing partitions without wiping existing partitions. Obviously you need adequate unallocated space on the target drive to hold the backed up partitions and you have to restore using partition mode, one by one which is a bit clunky and a bit of a PITA.

If you want to restore all, disk mode is easier BUT only if you are prepared to delete all existing partitions.

If you only wanted to restore some but not all partitions (keeping any existing partitions), you have to use partition mode and restore one by one as I said above. edit: you can use disk mode but you need to use advanced mode - thanks @itsme1 for pointing this out in post #565.

I do not really understand why you can back up multiple partitions in one go, but you have to restore one by one.

Hasleo is not the only tool that does it like this - Aomei, and I think Easeus does similar amongst others.

Of course Macrium Reflect does not differentiate between partition and disk backups, and you can restore one, some or all partitions in one go with its drag and drop gui, keeping or wiping partitions as required. Of course, it perhaps requires a bit of expertise to do restores more safely with Macrium Reflect as its interface is not so intuitive for beginners (a deliberate policy). To (allegedly) paraphrase Stan "With great power comes great responsibility"

Overall, the Hasleo gui is less flexible but (I accept) perhaps more intuitive to beginners. However, you can achieve most restore objectives albeit less slickly than using Macrium Reflect. In the end, Hasleo is free of course, and can do the job albeit a bit clunky in implementation

Windows C has 4 (!) partitions .............I have only 2 partitions on my SSD , with Win11 on it.
All other data is placed on other HDDs .
Backups of all my data ( including system backups ) also on external HDDs .
Used my Macrium-backups ( sometimes ) to roll back , never any problems........... :wink:

Yeah - I kind of worked that out after I posted.

I was using advanced mode for partition restores. In fact, if you do not use advanced mode, the first partition you restore gets expanded to fill the whole unallocated space - it is not that intuitive to use advanced mode. Good old trial and error LOL.

So having tried Macrium X on my little ARM64 machine because Macrium 8.1 doesn't support ARM64 I've decided I DO NOT want to renew it when it expires. I just downloaded and installed Hasleo Backup Suite Free 5.4.2.5 (ARM64) which I'm hoping will be the alternative. I'm running my first full system backup as we speak. I haven't had time to dig through the options and settings yet so can someone tell me is there a way to add a WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) boot menu option like Macrium did so I can start a restore from there if need be?

Yes, but if there wasn't it could be done manually with bcdedit commands. I have added several winpe entries to my boot menu.

Good to know, I just like to keep it simple and the Hasleo settings option was just that so that works for me. I also like to add and keep a Safe Mode Boot menu option on all three of my machines.

Of course, you should still create a bootable usb drive in case hard drive fails.

Gotta say I'm already impressed with Hasleo Backup in some ways over Macrium as far as setup, scheduling, and menu options go as it's much more intuitive and simplistic in a good way. I'd been putting it off thinking it would be complicated and confusing after using Macrium, but quite the opposite. Very good first impression.

Fair enough but I find its lack of flexibility to be frustrating. If it had a drag and drop interface, that would go a long way to improving its flexibility.

For what Hasleo Backup does, how does a drag-n-drop interface bring that much to the table? It's more about bulk backup for the most part.

Flexibility to easily rearrange partitions, resize them easily etc. I do that a lot.

If you have never used drag and drop, it is hard to explain without making a video to show how slick it is.

In the end, it is horses for courses, but as far as I am concerned, Hasleo is not flexible enough for my usage. It is basically a good tool for bulk backup though.

I'd guess you like more flexibility then us average users though that just need a reliable backup to restore our Windows OS if a MS update totally borks our system. That's all I'm looking for, something reliable and dependable to get me back to the previous build and configuration if needed.

I don't rearrange partitions often enough to need drag-n-drop, so I don't miss it. As for tinkering with partitions, I use MiniTool Partition Wizard anyway. I have Hasleo on one computer to do periodic backup, it's all automated, not bad for a free backup application.
