Not sure where to post this just wanted to vent a little. I know there are other similar posts out there...

"Long time windows user and Surface Pro user". I still have my Surface Pro 1 (and 3 and 5). I was excited to get my new Surface Pro 8 back in November 2021. But man was I disappointed with Windows 11. I had no idea when I bought it.

I use my Surface as a desktop i.e., keyboard attached, kickstand up, sitting on a table. And as a tablet i.e., no keyboard, sitting on a table or just holding it. On a table it was okay but as a tablet I was going crazy (With the taskbar stuck on the bottom) it's just too hard to use. Try tapping an icon on the taskbar with your finger hitting the table at the edge of the bottom of the tablet - way too cumbersome.

It just feels hobbled. It's missing so many features. I just felt like I went backwards. I felt miserable with this new Surface!

The usual goggling found these concerns and many other similar complaints. I saw many people trying to patch or reset W11 basically back to W10. Many posts mentioned ExplorerPatcher, Open-Shell, etc. but I hesitated downloading/modify my new computer!!!

Long story short, I was so frustrated I took the plunge and installed ExplorerPatcher. BAM! Back to the W10 feel or at least livable. I was able to move the taskbar to the top of the screen. It’s still hobbled to me, and some things are still broke (like the taskbar's control center -top cutoff) but I feel like I have a new computer now.

I HOPE MICROSOFT READS THESE!!!!

Does Windows 11 have a tablet mode? Or is it the same UI as desktop?

There is no option to toggle in/out of tablet mode with W11. Here's a pretty good explanation.

I see. It's supposed to be smart enough to detect if a keyboard is attached. I never buy touchscreen PCs. I can't stand smudgy screens. 😁
