Email is commonly used as your identity in many services or is just part of the data you provide to services. Two of the most common reasons you get junk mail.
  • Unfortunately lots of place that collect data, including your email, can and do sell it to marketing companies
  • Breaches; breaches happen all the time and email is often included in the leaked data. This data is dumped on the web, sold, and other cases. It then gets used for spam, phishing and marketing

Welcome to the real world.... 100 Junk mails? Wow that's a lot. First off all you can change your password as much as you want. That is not stopping receiving e-mails. Unfortunately your the victim of many 1 (but I think in much more than that) possible break-ins. Once a company has been compromised and the data (such as e-mail addresses) is stolen that data *can contain thousands or even more then a million* e-mail address are sold on sites like Telegram.

You can search for your e-mail on this site; Have I Been Pwned: Check if your email address has been exposed in a data breach This site is aware what kind have been break-ins in the past. It will show you where your e-mail has been stolen by criminals and sold to anyone. As of now some 17,503,428,825 accounts has been stolen from 962 different company's. The reason why? They haven't applied the latest patches on their machines so that servers are vulnerable by hackers using 0-zero day leaks. Or are just lazy as hell and think things are not that important. The amount of spam on a daily basis was in 2024-2026 arround 45-48% of all traffic on the internet!!! (around 145–188 billion spam emails sent daily! A staggering amount! This all costs bandwidth and energy... Google and MS are batteling to create more and more sophisticated Spamfilters together with some blocking ability's.)

So what can you do? Nothing!..... The only thing you can do is to delete that e-mail address and make a new one. That the only thing you can do to get rid of these huge amount of spam. You can block certain e-mail address but if they change 1 letter of their sender address you will get them again. And then again; many spammers spoof these sender address also. (You can see it when examining the email/internet header) They hide a certain payload in the message to fool the spamfilters that many company's use.

In general;

I don't know which e-mail is affected, but there are things you can do for yourself. Never leave your e-mail on all kind of site's! Priorities things!
- Trusted site like government sites, social security, Banks, Hospitals, Municipal sites, etc. Use your e-mail address given to you from your ISP.
- Questionable sites or not that important sites; Use a gmail or hotmail e-mail account.
- Untrustworthy sites; Use a free e-mail account.
- If possible don't leave a e-mail behind.

I do get spam also (by breaches) but 1 or 2 every month. A low amount whereby i can investigate who is responsible for this. It take with these low amounts only a few steps.
- Copy the header of the offending e-mail. (In Outlook; open a mail into a box (doubleclick on it) - File, properties and copy the content: email/Internet header.
- Paste this in a site like Message Header Analyzer or Email Header Analyzer, RFC822 Parser - MxToolbox
- Look at the hops (There can be many as 4 or more hops. The way from origin (the real sender at Hop 1) al the way down to your e-mail box.
- Look at hop 1 and the IP address belonging to it. That is the originator of the SPAM. Note that IP-address.
- Goto Whois Lookup, Domain Availability & IP Search - DomainTools and paste the IP-address. You will see the ISP where the Spammer is sending from. (within a range of IP-addresses) Search for an abuse e-mail address of the ISP.
- Forward the spam-mail. At the top some text you want to share with ISP, The list of hops, the e-mail/internet header.. Below that will be the original e-mail. In order to send that list part you have to convert it to html. (mail program will ask you if you want that; yes.) Send.....

By doing this, we can help us all. That spammer uses a script which contains the same body and subject, presses on a button and many copy of the same e-mails are send according to a database which contains only (bought) many of thousand (or more) e-mails. By using that abuse e-mail the ISP is doing his job seriously (reputation) and blocks that user in no-time. Had once 1 address which spammed me on a regular basis. After the complaint? Gone. Those ISP can be anywhere over the world. They took the appropriate steps to block these users once an for all from their company's. The only trouble I had was an ISP located in China. They made some fuss that because I complained outside China. (Yep; from the EU) They asked me for all kind of weird official stuff. Did not reacted on their request. Nevertheless they eventual did take action and stopped this spammer who thought to be clever by using a Chinese ISP.

If they ask on rare occasions a bit more; Ignore them. They have every information; The hops so they can see that their ISP was the originator. The e-mail/internet header. They can also cut this section and past it in the site I mentioned before. It contains also not-visible data that the spammer used to trick the Spamfilter. Those guys invent every day new ways to fool the spamfilters. I notice that they are getting better and better. Thanks to this kind of information. It's a constant battle between the spamfilter designers and those spammers.

Hope you got a better understanding how things work and what to do and what don't do.... To get rid of 100 spam mails/day is..... impossible.... Maybe it is possible (if they all end up in the SPAM-box of your e-mail account) to make a policy whereby you tell the program to delete everything that is dumped into that SPAM-Box automatically..... It's a risk. If anything important ends up by accident (by containing a lot of URL's) in there that will be delete also. You decide.

I receive a lot of junk email to my Hotmail account as well. I create rules to put the senders into the Deleted Items folder. That's cut down on a lot of recurring junk email.

Doing this... "trains" your email to recognize spam or junk mail.

IMHO, this is good advice. I have two Yahoo.com email accounts. One of them (for my wife) use to get a ton of spam. But when that happened, I just selected them (not opened them) and the clicked the spam button. All of the selected spam is then sent to the spam folder, where any links, attached files and images are stripped out. Then, I select everything in Spam and select "block senders". Now, I get only one or two spam emails a day and that is easy to handle.

Currently I have about 166 addresses in the blocked file. But there is a limit to the blocked file. IIRC it is 1,000 blocked addresses. I hit the limit once. I then emptied it out, and started again. The new crop of spam was much less than the old crop and the spam folder catches everything.

I also have a Gmail account that doesn't get an spam. I have to send it a test email, now and then, just to make sure it's still working.
