The Intel Management Engine Firmware (ME FW) Update Tool can be used to install a critical security update, as is explained in the description on the download page I linked. This same description also clearly states that you need to update the BIOS first. There exists a reason why MSI wrote these kinds of descriptions.

As for the Utilities section again.
  • True Color is for RGB lighting effects
  • Thunderbolt Control Center was designed for Windows 10 and is not compatible with Windows 11, but you can grab the Intel Thunderbolt Driver from the Driver section instead
  • SteelSeries GG is this
  • MSI App Player is an Android emulator that lets you use your laptop to play games that are designed to run on Android devices
  • Nvidia GeForce Experience is not needed, but you could install it anyway if you'd like to try it, then maybe uninstall it later if you don't want to keep it
  • MSI Center is this
  • Intel Graphics Command Center is this
  • Realtek Audio Control is this, but the latest version can be sideloaded by running the batch script from the file RealtekAudioControl_1.51.346.0-offline.7z that can be downloaded from here
  • Nahimic is this, but some years ago there have been reports from various users that some games won't run until you force-terminate Nahimic via Task Manager, and, I don't know if the problems were fixed (and in fact I don't know anything else about it)
  • Killer Control Center is explained here
  • NVIDIA Control Panel is... well, you probably know what it is... lol

After upgrading BIOS certain motherboard devices are affected and will also need to update their respective drivers. This is where you install the newer Intel thunderbolt driver and the Intel Management utility.

Thunderbolt ports are similar to USB ports, but different. Unlike Thunderbolt, USB is supported natively by Windows 8, 8.1, 10, and 11.

No one here has said anything about overclocking. The guide I linked about undervolting tries to explain the difference, and, the part of the video that I also linked to is pretty clear about the fact that you need to make absolutely sure to undervolt [-] rather than overvolt [+] the CPU.

I just posted these images as a joke to make others laugh. I didn't said he overclocked the computer, just that he played too many hours and overheated. Well it would freeze or even shutdown long before catching fire of course :-)

small little update on my temps, i bought this air blower thing a while ago and today i properly used it to clean out my laptop and cooling pad from the outside, LOADS of dust came flying out of the pad, and quite a lot from the laptop itself as well. A bit worried i spoiled my fan as a result of too much air blowing at it as one fan seems to be running a tad bit slower, but the temps are looking so much better after this cleaning + editing the power plan. thank you all for the help! ill be trying to update my bios soon, i do not think ill go into undervolting unless deemed necessary. all the support has helped immensly, love you all 🫶

I got my laptop around ~ November 2023, this is my first laptop ever
Lacks much, if any, experience in opening up the back of it or whatnot
A month ago due to high temperatures in Athens, Greece (38-40 degrees Centigrade), my CPU temperature started going to 100 degrees Centigrade and higher. When I bought it second hand, the CPU cooler wasn't available so I used my old Intel Core-i3 CPU fan on the Intel Core-i7. Of course it wasn't adequate so I had high temperatures close to 85-90 degrees. As performance was not affected I just ignored it. However with these hot days the temperature eventually reached the safety threshold of 105 degrees and the CPU underclocked from 3.5GHz to barely 1.4GHz making my PC crawl slower than a snail. I replaced the CPU cooler with a new one with much higher heat dissipation and now it is less than 90 degrees in worst case and running slightly overclocked at 3.7GHz.

Undervolting reduces the voltage and hence the power and temperature at the same performance level. Depending what you want, the cpu can either run cooler at the same performance or the same temperature at higher performance.

How much you can gain is dependent on the quality of your cpu sample. You also need to stress test the cpu since, if you Undervolt too far your system can become unstable. Your BIOS also has to support it. It can be tedious and frustrating.

See the screenshot. Before Camomile the CPU works at higher frequency (speed) than after applying Camomile. This is unacceptable. As long as the CPU temperature is lower than 90 degrees Centigrade I don't care. It might reduce its lifetime a few years, but will you still be using the same computer 20+ years later? I don't think so, so I don't care about mine.

Well if you are replying to me, I am not talking about some Camomile app. If you properly undervolt your CPU you will get higher performance at the same temperature because you are using less power. You can convert that gain to lower temperature at the same performance by adjusting the throttling mechanisms (max temperature, max power), but you have to be able to adjust these in the BIOS.

I understand why you would not want to bother, but not the reason.

Yes, if you know what you are doing, you can manually set them without BSOD or render the system unbootable. I was referring to Camomile another poster suggested as an easy way to cool the CPU but with reducing performance (less GHz). Like driving a car slower than 70kph to prolong engine's life. No thanks and I hate those drivers that drive like that in front of me at the fast lane.

    Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, no SSE4.2, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.

That is not true, Laptop CPUs are designed to use lower voltages primarily to save on power in the interests of Battery life, the performance is also lowered.

Perhaps people should mug up on some Semiconductor Physics.

I just use snake oil paint on the "Intel CORE i7" label, changing the i7 to i9.
People always think they can get something for nothing, hence the proliferation of Optimising Apps like the one mentioned.
