How do I de-couple or remove a Bluetooth device?

I have a phone which I want to use as a Bluethooth modem.

I set up it as Bluetooth access point and can connect the network using other phones. The computer can connect other phones as well.

But on laptop I only once have seen "connect as access point" in the context menu of the phone. I clicked it, but the system reported error and advised to remove the device and re-connect it. Since then, the "Connect via access point" option never appeared.

I tried to remove it, but with no success, the system says "error removing device".

I tried every advice on the Internet to do so, including removing the Bluetooth device with drivers, removing the phone via registry, via Device Manager and so on - with no success. The system always shows it coupled with the computer. It also fails to show the services provided by the phone in the property sheet.

Is there any way to de-couple this phone from the computer?

Why would you use phone as a bluetooth modem anyway?

Bluetooth is so slow.

Why not just set up phone as a wifi access point ?

Because it takes internet from Wi-Fi. It cannot at the same time access internet and share internet via Wi-Fi.

Yeah I forgot that. PCs can do both at same time.

However it will still get internet over the normal mobile plan - it depends on your mobile plan, reception etc. of course.

Anyway, why would you connect pc to mobile phone unless pc does not have wifi?

USB wifi adapters are so cheap (<£10), and it will be far more efficient than bluetooth.

Because to have access I have to put the phone at a hardly accessible elevated place, where using PC would be impossible.

If the phone can connect via wifi surely you can just connect the laptop to the wifi? If, for some reason, the laptop doesnt have wifi you can get a USB wifi for a few quid.

Then you have to disconnect your PC to wifi by forgetting the wifi's SSID from yoor PC. Or Turn off your PC's wifi?

It is not related to bluetooth I agree but it maybe the answer you need so you don't have to use bluetooth to connect your laptop to the internet. It is not a very year 2000 thing to do.
If you only fill up your computer specs, then someone with the same computer as yours maybe be able to help you. Not all computers are the same but technically speaking, forgetting and unpairing bluetooth should be as easy as "removing device".

As I wrote in the original post, this results in "error removing the device" message.
