Coming availability of the newest AI experiences for Copilot+ PCs​

We continue to introduce new AI features that light up more natural and conversational engagement with your devices, with experiences you can only get with Copilot+ PCs. Information for commercial and education customers​

Version 24H2 is now available through Windows Server Update Services (including Configuration Manager), Windows Update for Business and the Microsoft 365 admin center2,4. We recommend that commercial organizations begin targeted deployments to validate that their apps, devices and infrastructure work as expected with the new release. You can find more information on IT tools to support Windows 11, version 24H2 in the Windows IT Pro Blog. Enterprise and Education editions will receive 36 months of support beginning today.

This release also marks the availability of the next Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) release, Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024. The LTSC provides customers with access to an option for special-purpose devices and environments, such as manufacturing, healthcare systems or other environments that require longer term device update stability5. Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 is supported for five years. (Note: Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 is also available today and has a 10-year support lifecycle6.)

I finally got the update installed (took multiple tries)....then I went back to 23H2.

I had hard drive issues (had to format one of my NVME drives multiple times just so it wouldn't show up as a RAW drive), game issues (games would just not launch or if they did would give errors after launching), and general system issues (couldn't copy/move files from drives that were formatted correctly).

24H2 is not ready for prime time, in my personal opinion.

I've gone back to 23H2 Pro and put a block so I'm not offered 24H2 for now.

That's weird. I've not had any problems, and I have an NVME drive, and multiple hard drives connected.

The update wasn't being offered to me yet, so my impatient self used the Windows 11 Installation Assistant to do the update. So far so good, no issues. Update process was smooth, didn't time it, as I was doing other things. (y)

Same here. .. Took mine about 35-40 minutes or so, total. But everything seems to be working fine. . I would have preferred to do a complete fresh install, but this time, I did not have the patience to reinstall all of my software and such.

That is why I didn’t complete a Fresh Install
After fresh installing 24H2 I looked at it, contemplated the 3 or 4 days to get my PC loaded and the settings right, decided nah not today and reloaded an image and did an in-place Upgrade.

My old 'main machine' started life as an OEM Windows 7 laptop. It had Office Starter 2010 (a free Excel and Word) something that was only ever supplied as part of an OEM Win7 install. There are no setup files available to reinstall it. If I wanted to keep it then an upgrade was my only option. I've been doing so since Windows 10 was released, and migrated the installed OS to my System One in order to continue doing so with Windows 11. As such it's probably the only Win11 machine that has an upgrade history going back through 17 upgrades over nine years :wink:

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

I had hard drive issues (had to format one of my NVME drives multiple times just so it wouldn't show up as a RAW drive), game issues (games would just not launch or if they did would give errors after launching), and general system issues (couldn't copy/move files from drives that were formatted correctly).

24H2 is not ready for prime time, in my personal opinion.

I've gone back to 23H2 Pro and put a block so I'm not offered 24H2 for now.

You can't....

You either use a backup or you do a clean install of 23H2 (my personal choice as there were some things I wanted to change -- I do have a backup and it does work as I tried it, but decided on a clean install this time).

I just ended up just reinstalling the 24H2 update, by going to System->Recovery->Fix problems using Windows Update, in the Settings app, and it fixed the graphics driver

And no, I deleted the Windows.old folder and the restore points that the update made, because I usually never have a problem with system updates, so I usually just delete those right after updating to save space, but I am going to save the restore point after reinstalling the update just in case this time now though.

Restore points aren’t a system backup.

System backups using something like Hasleo Free or Macrium Reflect are a staple in using Windows without fear of problems and having to reinstall from scratch.
Also, In-Place repair upgrades (Which is what you did) don’t always work.

However, I am confident members could of helped you with whatever driver issue you were having. Not to worry.

Ya, when I first installed the update yesterday, my screen was like flashing, and when I tried reinstalling the graphics driver, it was saying access denied, but it's all working perfectly fine now after doing the repair upgrade thing

We have been contacted today by multiple software vendors who say their software is not supported on Windows 11 24H2. We are seeing program crashes and driver issues. I would caution IT managers in a business setting to not deploy this update. It is not ready for production.

I had hard drive issues (had to format one of my NVME drives multiple times just so it wouldn't show up as a RAW drive), game issues (games would just not launch or if they did would give errors after launching), and general system issues (couldn't copy/move files from drives that were formatted correctly).

24H2 is not ready for prime time, in my personal opinion.

I've gone back to 23H2 Pro and put a block so I'm not offered 24H2 for now.

@Taliseian Could you share how I can temporarily block the update to 24h2? How did you do it? Mine is Windows 11 Home. Some key in the registry? This system has many problems and inconveniences. I understand that it is not worth migrating so soon if the user has an stable system. Thank you.
