I use toothpicks because I mix only small amounts of epoxy at a time. Some epoxies have longer "work times" than others. I've southern engineered broken pieces this way on quite a few older laptops. Some worked great. Some didn't.

Order "tongue depressors" from Amazon. (Sold for medical exams.) A pack of 100 is a few dollars. More than a lifetime supply for most of us.

I like to "mix" epoxy with something a bit larger and stronger. For the application, toothpicks are fine.
The whole secret to epoxy is how well it's mixed.

If it's not mixed well enough, there'll be soft spots that never dry.
