How to revert to old Start Menu without using third party tools?

Windows 11 Pro
The new Start Menu forced itself today on my PC, and it wouldn't disappear even after consecutive restarts. I would like to revert it without using third party tools, as those tools usually do more than just revert a setting and I don't want that (Windows 11 is so prone to files corruption/breaking nowadays).

Does anyone know of a way to achieve this? Thanks in advance.

How to setup Vivetool (do one time only)

1. Go here and download ViVeTool-v0.3.4-IntelAmd.zip
2. Create a folder in C:\ called zVIVE (you can name the folder whatever you want)
3. Extract the contents of the .zip file you downloaded to: C:\zVIVE (or the folder name you chose)

How to use Vivetool

1. Open an elevated (as admin), command prompt.
2. Type: cd C:\zVIVE (use the folder name you chose)
3. When the prompt changes to... C:\zVive>, copy and paste one of the Vivetool ID numbers shown below...
4. Then reboot the computer, to apply the changes.

This is the ID# you want to use...

vivetool /disable /id:47205210 <---- Disable the new 25H2 Start Menu

Thanks. Would it be possible to explain what this will do once it's applied (I realize it will revert to old menu, but I mean how does it do that technically)?

Those ID numbers correspond to features that MS has installed or may install.
In the link above, there is a link to the official ElevenForum Vivetool topic. That will give explanations.

At this time... Vivetool is the easiest and possibly the ONLY was to revert to the previous Start Menu.

Vivetool by itself does nothing. It's enabling/disabling the ID numbers of the features that makes the change(s).

Also... once you "set" a feature with Vivetool and reboot... you can delete Vivetool itself, and the feature will stay "set".

Vivetool just lets you talk to the "switches" of hidden MS features, via the Command Prompt.
The various ID numbers tell Vivetool which feature you want to... toggle.

Here's a video that walks you through the process...

Thank you very much. I've done this now and it worked perfectly.

Sorry, but that doesn't work. Microsoft completely removes the ability to revert it from those settings you cited. It's only possible through the method Ghot mentioned.

I didn't say it changed the new start menu to the old one, only that the user had control over certain sections of the new one .

What steps did you take? Using ViveTool, or applying the reg file?
If you run "WinVer", what is your exact Windows build number (something like 26200.xxxxx)?

If you want to undo the changes, edit the .reg file in Notepad.

Change this:
Code:
"EnabledState"=dword:00000001

to this:
Code:
"EnabledState"=dword:00000002

Re-apply the reg file, and restart Windows. If that doesn't restore your previous Start Menu, then something else is going on.
