Hi everyone,
I am running into a major issue where I can no longer print to my new HP 9120 printer following the Windows 11 25H2 update. Everything worked fine prior to 25H2.

Environment
  • Printer: HP 9120 (connected via Wi-Fi on the same network as the laptop)
  • OS: Windows 11 version 25H2
  • Other devices: Printing from my Apple 17 phone still works properly over the network

Problem
Whenever I send a document to print from my laptop, nothing reaches the queue. The document count on the printer icon in the system tray simply stays at 0, and there appears to be zero communication reaching the print queue.

What I tried
  • Resetting the print spooler service
  • Emptying the spooler folder
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the printer roughly 10 times
Rolling back from 25H2 is no longer an option for me because it has already been past the 10-day window. I have seen several posts where other users resorted to performing a clean reinstall of Windows 11 just to stay on 24H2 and bypass 25H2, as it seems to be a widespread issue.

Does anyone have any thoughts, workarounds, or fixes for this? I am open to trying anything at this point.
Thank you all so much!

Are you sure it was 25H2? I just updated two of my computers to Windows 11 26H2 yesterday.

I haven't had any problems so far printing or scanning with my HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 AIO printer.

Thank you all so much!
1) can you SEE the printer from the computer via File explorer in display network
2) firewalls / other security restrictions might prevent you accessing the printer from your machine e.g not allowing remote connections to / from the computer. Check in system->device manager ->remote from the system icon in control panel.
3) if you were using SMB 1 an update removes this - so re-enable again (in turn windows features on / off)
4) if the printer has a USB cable try re-installing driver and software with the usb cable attached and then connect via wifi. Sometimes this type of install gets these printers working again.
5) in the control panel check the devices / printers -- you might have got a few copies installed and the "default" one isn't the correct one so printer won't work.

Cheers

Thank you for the post. I eliminated and uninstalled all Hp software and printers. Still nothing showing up in the “quere” still shows 0. Something is blocking the info from when I hit “print” to showing up in the queue Every time I check the Q folder it is empty. Thank you again so much!!! Nutbustd

Because the job count never goes above 0, it's likely the job fails before the spooler accepts it. I'd turn on the PrintService log and print once.

In Event Viewer open `Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > PrintService > Operational`, right-click it and choose Enable Log, then print a test page from the printer's properties and look for errors at that minute. Check the `Admin` log in the same folder too.

Then run this in PowerShell to see which port the printer was added on:

```
Get-Printer | Format-Table Name,DriverName,PortName
```

If the port is a WSD port, add the printer again by its IP address in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device > Add manually > Add a printer using an IP address or hostname.

Drafted with AI.

To be sure you've completely removed any HP drivers before you reinstall the printer, run "printui.exe /s", and under the Drivers tab, remove any lingering HP drivers. I've found that just using the Windows REMOVE command from Settings doesn't necessarily remove the drivers.

I want to thank everyone for their help and support. My laptop was older so I bought a new Asus laptop. I did not allow 25H2 to be downloaded. Guess what? Printer came back on line. Apparently some Microsoft updates are definitely causing issues. Now I understand AMD cpus are having issues with latest MS updates. Glad I got an Intel. Again THANK YOU ALL!!
