OS
Windows 11
I had to take my PC in because folders weren't opening and a bunch of other stuff, the tech said what they were trying was also making it worse. They came to the conclusion all of windows was corrupt beyond repair. So all my information and programs were lost. Now when I first installed 11 I had windows 10 and before that windows 7 which meant I got the free install using my windows 7 serial. When I got my PC back from the tech they had windows 11 on it but I saw it wasn't activated so I got my windows 10 serial and put that in, well it's activated but on some scans where it also shows OS it says windows 10. Did I do something wrong by putting windows 10 serial in so it would be activated? Otherwise, everything is running well no problems. Thanks so any info!!!!

You did nothing wrong. These scanning apps detects the windows kernel version which is 10.

Windows 11 is basically Windows 10 with a new skin and a few added feature. Ofc there are more differences, but in short this is the case.

First, it's a little bit odd that it didn't automatically activate without you having to supply a key. The only reason I can think of off the top of my head is that they didn't install the same edition of Windows (Home, Pro, etc.) that you had originally. Although the fact that you were able to get it to activate with your Win 10 would indicate that it was the correct edition.

There are file names and references in Windows 11 to Windows 10. No need to worry about that. The build number that you posted is indeed Windows 11. As for license keys, there is no difference between a Windows 10 and 11 license key. They are 100% interchangeable.
