Anyway to have "never combine" but also hide the labels on the Windows 11 taskbar?

Hello

Is there any way to hide the labels on the taskbar when the "Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels" is set to to "never"?

I want to have no combining of buttons, but I also don't want to see the labels.

I had it set up this way on Windows 10, and using ExplorerPatcher and 7++ Taskbar Tweaker, I have been able to retain this functionality...but 7++ is no longer being developed/updated, and I think eventually I will be forced to use the W11 taskbar.

I also just got a new 2-in-1 laptop and using the old W10 taskbar is having problems when switching between normal and tablet mode.

Yeah I have this option too.

If I set it to:

• Always: Buttons DO combine but DO NOT have labels
• Never: Buttons DO NOT combine but DO have labels

I don't want either.

Are you telling me that your buttons do not combine and do not have labels?

For others looking, this works on Win11 23H2: Windhawk - Disable Grouping

First set the native Win11 Taskbar "Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels" setting to "Always"
and then use this Windhawk extension to Disable Grouping.

Just have to say what a silly little gap that msft has left us with... so many people want this natively unavailable setting.

I'd heard of Windhawk before and have been using 7++ Taskbar Tweaker for years now and ExplorerPatcher to use the old Win10 taskbar...but I had no idea Windhawk was this powerful!

This has pretty much solved all of my problems with the Win 11 taskbar

• Ungrouped and unlabelled buttons (Disable Grouping on the Taskbar)
• reduce the space between tray icons (Taskbar notification icon spacing)
• Bring in the functionality that T-Clock had given on Win10 taskbar - custom clock + date format (Taskbar Clock Customization)

There are so many different mods in the lists as well - going to have a proper look through them cause there are probably some bangers in there!

small note for everyone - make sure to see the settings behind any of these Windhawk plugins... e.g. i was relieved to find "Place ungrouped items together" option, thank goodness.
