After reinstalling Windows 11 Pro from an iso file, it's now saying it needs to be activated. I bought the computer from a local store and didn't receive any codes or licenses, I should have. Windows WAS activated but after the successful reinstall now it's not. Reaching Microsoft is a nightmare. I had a "chat" with a bot and gave the bot the error codes and it gave me a phone number, the bot said the phone number will put me in touch with a live support person who will clear up the matter. I called the number, but another bot answered and hung up on me when I asked to speak to a live person.

Apparently the digital license I received is not being acknowledged by Microsoft, as Windows Activation is telling me to go to the Microsoft store and purchase a license. I already paid for the OEM copy.

Any suggestions? I am trying to reach the shop that put the custom computer together for me to find out why there's no digital license I can use to reactivate the OS.

You don't get one now - not for years, if you buy a PC with Windows already installed. Your digital entitlement is held on MS's servers against a hash of your hardware id exluding RAM and disk.

Was you activation linked to your MS account (if any?)

Normally clean installs are done using a boot disk created using the MS media creation tool directly.
Where did you get your iso file from?

You can try running the Activation Troubleshooter (there doesn't seem to be a tutorial for that on elevenforum as there was on tenforums, or it's hidden).
E.g. taskbar search: Troubleshoot Activation

Post the result.

Did you booted from a Win 11 USB installation drive and did a clean install (deleting all partitions) or did you mounted the Win 11 iso file and ran setup.exe (Repair install)?

Jerry, you noted that you installed the Pro edition of Windows. I just want to make sure of one thing: Are you certain that the edition previously installed was Pro and not Home? Installing the incorrect edition can cause the problem that you are seeing.

I ran the Activation Diagnostic Tool and it reports that my Validation Status is Invalid License. The validation code is 0xC004F034. The installed key is generic, and the OEM key is not present in firmware.

I bought this custom built computer brand new last month with Windows 11 Pro activated. I had to reinstall due to some issues and it says I have Windows 11 Pro installed but it won't activate. I haven't changed any hardware.

I am not sure what to do with the other 2 files you sent.

0xC004F034 = The Software Licensing Service reported that the license could not be found or was invalid.

When available please update the progress with post #2 step #1.

Make sure that in the menu bar extract all is clicked first.

After the new window appears launch the log collector > post a share link

I just saw your post. I glanced at it and thought this is not the solution I need. The retailer must have sold me an unauthorized copy of Windows, at least that is what Microsoft is telling me. Since I was given no product code or digital license, and there's no OEM code embedded into the motherboard's firmware, I can only assume that either the retailer simply forgot to give me the necessary documentation or something is up.

An ASUS BIOS update broke my activation.
For the price it was way easier than fighting with MS. ^^

I see you have an ASUS motherboard. In the past 3-5 months, ASUS has been updating (via the BIOS), the virtual TPM, lodged in the CPU.
MS believes this means you put in a new CPU. Aka, hardware upgrade.

This may be what broke your activation.

My comp was built by me is May 2020. I keep up on the BIOS updates.
The last two updates, (I tried both), both broke my activation.

Pretty much what the title says. To link to MS account requires serial number, which I don't have. I've tried the powershell an command prompt commands for fining the serial, but get no results. I've also tried registering device with computer name. Doesn't work. My computer has only a Local...

That might be it. I remember upgrading, I think, the TPM a few weeks ago. But if that were the case, I doubt the Windows 11 Pro iso file would have allowed a repair install?

Is there any place in the BIOS I can see the Windows Product Code?

Only factory built PC's have a product key in the BIOS. If your PC was built from a motherboard, the shop is responsible for giving you the activation code for the Windows they (supposedly) purchased for you.

Not if it's not a chain-store computer, no.
On chain-store computers like DELL or HP, etc., they code the product key in the BIOS.
You have yours listed as a miniPC... that may have the key in the BIOS.
There's a command you can run within Windows that will tell you what it is.
I don't remember what the command is.

Below is a pic of your motherboard. If there is no "module" plugged into the connector (in the RED box), your TPM is virtual and is in the CPU itself.

I only build AMD computers. I found the BIOS manual for your computer, but if there's a virtual TPM setting in there, I can't find it.

AMD's TPM setting is much simpler...
Discreet TPM = a separate module
Firmware TPM is in the CPU.

Long story short... if you're NOT using a discreet TPM module, then you also have firmware TPM, and a BIOS update will look to Microsoft, like you changed the CPU. That would be a hardware change, and would break your activation.

In 2 or 3 years, ASUS and MS will probably get on the same page. :/
