Hi,

today's update KB5044284 won't install because of error 0x800736b3.

I have tried the .BAT file to reset the Windows Update settings and /SFC but both don't help.

Anyone else has that issue also?

Clean install 26100.1882 btw

Having the same issue here. I also did the bat file and sfc /scannow but no success (same sfc message/bug as before).

I even deleted all the Windows Update downloaded files and downloaded the .msu file but same problem.

I'm trying the Powershell command to see if it'll install the msu that way.

I have tried a manual install from the Update Calatog but even this does not work.

Some more threads regarding that online also. Guess we have to wait for a fix.

Kind of bugged too.

I have error 0x800736b3 when trying to install KB5044284. I don't know how to solve it, the only option is probably to wait for ISO 26100.2033 and update via iso.

Does anyone have this problem and any solution?

Have a look into the CBS logs and it will be usually be due to either a missing set of registry keys or the associated WinSxS component.

SFC constantly shows an error with Microsoft.Web.WebView2.Core.dll that cannot be rapaired also.
It's the same error as stated here on reddit.

Could it be somehow connected to the 0x800736b3?

No, that's a common bug which has been introduced recently and can be safely ignored, please see this thread here: Continued SFC Errors

Could you please provide your CBS log(s) from the following directory:

Code:
%systemroot%\Logs\CBS

Please include all of them in a zipped folder attached to your next post.

I had this issue on 24H2 a month back, it started after I used the dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase, couldn't even install .NET 3.5 Framework, as this command removed some components. I don't know if this command is bugged on 24h2, maybe it's breaking some things when used. Reinstalled using the released official ISO and worked fine.

I would strongly advise against using the /ResetBase argument unless you understand what it does. There is very little reason to ever use it.

Are they're no other logs in the CBS folder, including the ones which have "persist" in the name? The one you provided has no issues.

Sorry, missed it.

Since it's too large, I had to upload it on OneDrive. Here you go Sir.

I've done an in-place upgrade and now my winver went up to 26100.2033 also.

Still, the KB5044284 seems to be bugged lol

Please refrain from doing any updates unless I say so, your previous CBS logs had multiple errors related to possible registry corruption and missing WinSxS directories, however, since you've done an in-place upgrade, those logs could be irrelevant now.

So, the new issue is that the update is repeatedly being offered to you? Let's do a registry search to see if it has actually installed properly:

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and type in cmd.
2.After you find the Command Prompt, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
3. Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt:

reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS

4. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
5. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
6. Copy and paste KB5044284 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
7. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please attach this to your next reply. It is saved on your desktop named SearchReg.txt.

Remove Update Manually
1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, and press Enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:5044284
4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

Edit: This will be easier to do before the FRST fix.
