Installation Issues

My system is the HP All-in-One 24-df1xxx. It has Intel UHD graphics. I tried a fresh install of Windows 11. I let the system download and install all available updates. I even downloaded the newest Intel video drivers. I still get the following errors:
* Black colors on the taskbar are not as black as Windows 10. It looks like transparency is turned on when in fact it is off.
* Fonts are too small to read even though I have them set to 130% in the accessibility section of settings.
* Icons on the taskbar look like they are rendered in 16 bit color. They lack any details.
* The font on the taskbar's clock and date are so small I can barely read them even though I set the system font's to a bigger size.
* All windows, icons, fonts, and anything on screen look a bit blurry.
All these issues have me using Windows 10 at the moment. I sure would love to give Windows 11 a try but I guess Windows 11 does not play nice with Intel integrated graphics. Yes, I have tried both the driver from HP and the driver from Intel with the same disappointing results.

And advice?

To post a screenshot on this forum...

1. Take the screenshot, edit it as desired, save to your desktop as .png or .jpg (max. size = 2MB)
2. Left click in your post, where you want to place the screenshot.
3. Click the Attach Files button at lower left, browse to your pic and click Insert.
4. After clicking Insert, I usually choose the Thumbnail option.

Your CPU is compatible with Windows 11. WhyNotWin11.exe will tell us if the rest of the computer is also compatible.

If everything is compatible, you'll see all GREEN boxes like this...

If Windows 10 is running nice and clean... you can also just do an In-Place Upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11, like so...

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect or AOMEI Backupper Standard

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations.
Your drivers, programs and data will be intact.

I did it this way myself... worked like a charm and took about 30 mins on my computer.
I'd guess about 45 minutes on yours.

And the best part... no need to install drivers or programs... they'll already be installed.

I tried this exact method last week with the same result. I've also tried doing the upgrade through Windows 10 updates. i end up with all the issues I posted about.

Most of the problems you posted about can be remedied with some Windows 11 settings.
Unfortunately, they're spread all over the place and hidden fairly well.
Last but not least... it will be hard for us to "imagine" what you're seeing with your eyes.

A screenshot or three when you're ON Windows 11 would help.

For example... how does my Windows 11 look to you?
Note: My Taskbar is set to "small". Everything is at 100% as well.

To me... this all looks about the same as Windows 10. But I've been playing with the settings for a while.

Yeah to my eyes the taskbar in both of those pictures are a true black. I never get that when I install 11. It looks like a black with a couple shades of grey thrown in. And blurry. And the icons don't look right.

Don't be fooled. I run a program called TranslucentTB. It makes the Taskbar... clear.
And... since my desktop is BLACK... the Taskbar "looks" like it has a black background.

Since the Taskbar is clear... the desktop pic or color shows through...

And ofc, Microsoft broke TranslucentTB, but we found a fix for it...

VIVETOOL, and how to use it...

Nothing is easy on Windows 11, but we... "Endeavor to persevere".

TranslucentTB... (no... I have no idea why the Taskbar settings are under the Desktop heading).

On Windows 11, as soon as we figure out where "it's" at, Microsoft goes and moves it.

For comparison mine is set at medium taskbar, medium icons, 150% on 27 in screen, with some tweaking done with fonts. As you can guess, I've value comfortable reading over screenspace as the old eyes are not what they used to be.

It's that color of you taskbar. That's what I end up with every time I try 11. I want a true native black like Windows 10.

If you are referring to my screenshot, my taskbar is not black, It a dark plum color.

I also have 150% on a 13" screen. Which theme are you using? The colours go with the theme. As Bree has shown above you can change them to whatever you want. However if you change themes the colours will change with them to tone in with the theme probably. I just set my own background wallpaper and changed the taskbar and menu (they both change) to the colour I want. I went with a mid grey - not sure why.

Maybe rather than set the font size in the accessibility section, set the display size to 150% instead (or as well). And while in the display setting, check the brightness is turned up perhaps. It may not be at full brightness on first install.

Here is a fresh install of 11 on my system. I used Windows Update to install 11. Note the issues.

I'm a bit confused - you said a fresh install but also that you used Windows update to install 11 - which would be an upgrade wouldn't it? I count a fresh install either as resetting the computer or - clean install from a usb stick containing Windows 11 iso. Did you see the bit about display settings above?

Well this time I installed 11 using Windows update. However I have tried doing a clean install from a USB stick. They results are the same. Yes I saw the posts about the display settings. I tried all of the tips that were suggested, nothing helped. Just made it worse. I don't think 11 plays well with my hardware at all. I'll have to stick to 10 for now.
