Hey guys!

It's been a long time, but I'm back again...

I have three different systems in my office. Is 26H1 compatible with their hardware?

  1. Intel Core-i9-13900H (ASUS TUF Gaming F15 FX507VV4-LP103)
  2. AMD Ryzen 5-8645HS (Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fb2082wm (A14MNUA))
  3. AMD Ryzen 5-3500U (Huawei MateBook D15-WAQ9R)
Thanks.

This is what Microsoft writes about 26H1:
Windows continually works in partnership with our OEMs and IHVs to support new device innovations. Windows 11, version 26H1 is a targeted release that supports some of the new device innovations coming in 2026. That means that this release is not being made available through broad channels but is only intended for those who purchase these new devices. At this time, devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon® X2 Series processors will come with Windows 11, version 26H1.

Organizations should continue to purchase, deploy, and manage devices running broadly released versions of Windows 11 (e.g. versions 24H2 and 25H2) with confidence.

Windows 11, version 26H1 is not a feature update for version 25H2. There is no need to pause device purchases or OS deployments, and no changes required to existing enterprise rollout plans. Windows will continue to have annual feature updates in the second half of the calendar year.

So no, 26H1 is not meant to be compatible with any existing hardware.

There is a 26H1 available for non-ARM devices, but there’s basically no need to install it on anything.

I've had 26H1 installed on my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 and Lenovo P3 Ultra and honestly, it's not any different than 25H2.
It's a little snappier but I don't see any other difference.

The key difference is 26H1 won't be able to upgrade to 26H2 if that's one of your major considerations. Otherwise you're going to be stuck on 26H1 unless 27H1 appears next year. That may be unimportant for some users, and bad for others.

The Samsung NVMe PM9C1a 1024GB SSD does not use a Phison NAND controller. Instead, it uses Samsung's in-house developed Piccolo (S4LY022) 6-Core 4 Channel Controller. The PM9C1a utilizes a controller built using Samsung's 5-nanometer process and seventh-generation V-NAND technology. 🤔

From Dell: 512GB NVME Solid State Drive accelerated by 32GB Intel Optane Memory are the fastest as compared to NAND SSDs. Intel Optane H10 with SSD offers speedy storage and accelerates opening your programs.
AFAIK, 26H1 is a kind of "boutique release" for Windows 11 aimed primarily at PCs (laptops, mostly) running Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 CPUs (so not even "first-generation Copilot+ PCs" qualify). None of your listed platforms would meet those criteria. Best to stick with 24H2/25H2 and plan to move up to 26H2 when it hits, methinks. HTH,

Yep, that’s right @Ed Tittel. You will see someone occasionally post that they have 26H1 on a non-ARM device, because it does exist, but there’s basically nothing it it for those chips, except maybe “look what I have?”

Nice to see you back everything considered. Your contributions to the forum were appreciated. In respect to your question, yes, 26H1 will run on all of those devices. I run it on both supported and unsupported x64 devices. It's a matter of personal choice as to whether you chose to use 25H2 or 26H1.

Indeed I ran 26H1 on a test system and a month or two back it switched itself over to the Dev Channel. I still don't see the new "Experimental" and "Beta" layout in Windows Insider Program on that PC, in fact. Go figure!
