On my new Acemagic laptop with AMD Ryzen CPU, is Windows nagging me to use Bitlocker? There is no problem with the SSD.

It's saying you have Bitlocker enabled but not activated. If you don't want Bitlocker you need to remove it before you get locked out.

It's odd, I have used W11 Pro on several laptops and never switched encryption on. It should be optional. I am certain I did not sitch it on on this new laptop,

In some PC configurations Bitlocker turns on automatically. Last time reinstalled Windows 11 I had to turned it off first thing after install.

I guess only qualified devices enable it by default.
I noticed that the new version of VMware Workstation Pro 25H2 enables it by default.

I did install VMWare but could not get it working on my system 4. I uninstalled it but maybe it left Bitlocker 'on' but not activated. Very annoying as it had silenty encrypted the whole SSD with no indication!
