I'd add make a system image of win-10 first to another hdd
Restore the system image using the winpe recovery media to the new sdd and use the upgrade to 11 disabling 11 new requirements.
Then all your files/ apps are already on 11.

You could also clone to the new ssd but system images are better and reusable and everyone should be using them anyway.
Clones are one off.

I totally agree, pull that W10 drive and install W11 if you want on a SSD, it should automatically Activate so you`re good to go.
Problems in the future, just pop your W10 drive back in and catch up on updates.

I used this method to make the usb stick with Windows 11 on. It was very simple and just installed. Has step by step instructions on how to use the rufus panel to select the right option to burn Windows 11 without the TPM and Secure boot options. I did two separate usb sticks - one for legacy bios and one for uefi. Assume yours will be uefi. Photos show what to select from the drop down list. Took a few minutes (after downloading the Windows 11 ISO). Then just installed. It went ahead no problems with an old netbook. On a 6 year old HP laptop it couldn't find the network to install so I used my phone as a hotspot to install (it would pick up the mobile network but not my wifi). Once installed and a few updates done it found the wifi. Maybe various with different computers as to whether this is an issue.

Article includes the link to download rufus 3.16 beta but there may be a later beta version now. 3.16 works fine though.
