Is it time?

Fun to see all older computers. :D
I love old computers, i have working computers from the mid 80's to modern.
and i love the retro look.

This is my main PC for work.

Dell_Dimension_3000.webp

But it is no longer a Pentium 4
it became an i3 8Gen 32GB Ram.. but i could not resist the retro look from the 00's when i had two identical machines in the collection. 🤓

Yeah, I think that although the rate of improvements continues on computers, it's just not as substantial as it once was. I'm in the same boat, I keep computers a lot longer now than I used to. And I think age has an impact too, I find when I have free time I like to sit around by a fire, drink a beer and relax with friends. I work in IT, so I'm on the computer, all day every day. I don't like to come home and sit on the computer all night at this point.
I used my computer a lot when I was working as I was in avionics design. However, I also got out in the lab and to customers regularly to break up the desk duty. I kinda' miss some of the comradery, we had a fun group.

My main PC (2nd system specs) is housed on an old white midi tower which started as an Intel Pentium 4 computer! I have even kept my old ATAPI DVD-RW drives (unconnected) and an old 5.25" high density floppy disk drive to cover the bays because I have lost their covers! It looks like an old "useless" 2000's computer, so hopefully a thief wouldn't bother taking it.

Cool :-) i was thinking of keeping the CD-RW i had in that Dell.. But as i had an old 00's 5.25" fan-controller i thought that would be more retro-fun. :-)
I would love to have a white mini tower.. but the only white i have is a maxi tower i have an P2 in that was my first members only DC++ server i had with a lot of SCSI drives in that was used to file sharing of games, software music and movies in the late 90's and it still working.. i don't have the heart to upgrade that machine. :-) and as statute of limitations has passed two times over, i can confess to it now. *LOL* 🤣

It's an old Crucial MX500. I don't remember now if that was the good one or the bad one. I hope it was the good one.
Pretty good reviews on Amazon...

Unfortunately, Micron (Crucial) has gotten out of the consumer market, so not sure what kind support you would get.

From what I understand, they will refund the original purchase price, rather than replace faulty drives, so keep your receipt.

Regarding TPM, I've been running Windows 11 (now at 26H2) for over a year now with no TPM, and have had no issues.

The major reason I ended up upgrading my systems was my old HP was a bit painful with 3D modeling and my larger PCB designs. For stuff like browsing, word processing, etc. it was fine. I did also want native Win11 compatibility, but so far the old HP is running Windows 11 26H2 just fine, so that wasn't really a problem.
