Voice Access​

  • New! This update adds commands to correct words that voice access fails to recognize. You can say “correct [text]” to correct specific text. Use “correct that” to correct text you last dictated. The correction window appears with a list of words labelled with numbers. You can say “click [number]” to select any word from the list. If you choose a word from the window, that word replaces the text you want to correct. You can also say “spell that” or “spell out” to dictate the correct spelling of text. You get suggestions as you spell out the text. All the words and phrases that you spell are added to the Windows dictionary. They will appear as suggestions when you try to spell the text again.
  • New! Voice access now works right when you start your PC. You can turn on voice access from the accessibility flyout box on the Lock screen. To turn it on automatically, go to Settings > Accessibility > Speech. Important This issue is a reporting issue only and does not affect drive encryption or the reporting of other issues on the device, including other BitLocker issues.		To mitigate this issue in Microsoft Intune, you can set the “Enforce drive encryption type on operating system drives” or "Enforce drive encryption on fixed drives" policies to not configured.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You an find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. Am i gonna be forced into Doing a Clean Install to get Windows 11 Pro 23H2 on my fully up to date Intel I7 10700 Desktop machine? so far Windows update sees nothing, and i've checked about 15 times already, even restarted system twice and Nothing

Not a thing should be blocking it as far as i know

Been awake since 6:30am so excited that it was gonna probably release today and so far still nothing grrr

Controlled Release Program. I'm sure somebody has multiple links to it, but basically it's MS dribbling out the update to certain groups of devices and geographical areas and whatever other VooDoo drives it.

I have the feeling this will cause Explorer to crash, every time I try to open ThisPC or the FE icon in the taskbar.
But since I have a fresh backup... :cool:

I better uninstall TranslucentTB first.

I just got updated to 23H2 on my system #2 via windows update. Update was quick. It's now version 22631.2506. Still don't have it on my laptop (System 1) yet.

I have all that and I didn't temp disable anything, and no crashes or smoking holes in he ground. File Explorer is it's normal finicky self.

Just received the 23H2 update from Windows Update for my desktop. It was incredibly fast. I will see whether it is available for my laptop on Friday. Presumably, what I got was the "enablement package." I turned off Malwarebytes Premium, just in case.

Earlier in this thread... I noticed FE search wasn't working properly. That was my fault, messing with the search settings and assuming English as a first language for the coders.

To troubleshoot... I went back to before I played with the search settings (Sept. 12th), found that search worked again, so I proceeded to do updates. The updates were successful all the way to 22621.2506... BUT... I got a popup error message that there was a conflict with TranslucentTB.

This conflict was causing Explorer to crash when I tried to open File Explorer. Nothing would fix it... even uninstalling TranslucentTB.
You can see the troubleshooting, etc... starting in post #84, in this topic.

Anyway... I got everything fixed... but no 23H2.
Earlier... like a week and a half ago.. I tried the KB5027397 and an In-Place Upgrade... didn't work, and I also got the crashing Explorer problem. This is why, today, when I saw @Brink's post... I figured it wouldn't work this time, either.

But as you can see... it DID work.
I don't know for sure if uninstalling TranslucentTB first (with REVO), helped or maybe MS just changed something?

Anyhow... it's all working now, thanks to our beloved "Little Green Man". :D



Note: I don't see any of the 23H2 stuffies, but then I'm on a local account.

My laptop was offered the update but when it started to download, it decided my laptop was not ready because I was using a local account. My desktop was not offered it (even though it has a MS account). So I used @Brink's suggestion in post #108 above, and they are both now on 23H2.

Both systems working fine so far. Thanks Shawn.

I did a repair install on 23H2 22631.2506 with the official 22631.2428 iso as a "fresh" install instead of how I got there by many incremental WUPD over time. I was a little supersized the install let me downgrade. Then I upgraded the 22631.2428 back to 22631.2506 with WUPD and cleaned up. All seems good.

The minor build number doesn't count. As long as the system files are the same build you can do the in-place upgrade. You cannot 'upgrade' a 22631 system with a 22000.nnnn ISO, but you can with a 22631 ISO (or even a 22621 ISO, because 22621 and 22631 share a common set of system files - it's only the enablement package that makes the difference).
