Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Build 26100.2152 (KB5044384) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 26100).

Below is a summary of the new features and improvements included as part of this update separated into two sections: gradual rollout and normal rollout. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change we are documenting.

Gradual rollout​

The following features and improvements might not be available to all users because they will roll out gradually. Text bolded in brackets indicate the area of the change being documented.
  • [Start menu] New! You can directly access content on your mobile device from the Start menu on your PC. Using this feature, you can view your device’s battery status and connectivity, access your voice messages, calls, and photos, and pick up where you left off with the latest activities on your device. Only Android users who are already connected using Phone Link can get this feature. iOS support will be coming later. To manage this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Start. [UPDATE 10/14] This feature will roll out to Insiders in Release Preview on Windows 11, version 24H2 at a later date and is not rolling out yet with this update.

On new devices, the key opens the Copilot app. If you sign in to your account using a Microsoft Entra ID, the key opens the M365 app. You can make the key open a different app or open Search. run disk cleanup and see if you have the 8.36gb left over in a loop after running the app a couple of times.

I actually do, unfortunately... and I've read here that many users have the same problem. I also read in many articles that MS has acknowledged this bug and will soon fix it.

If "Release Preview" is the name of a Windows Update BEFORE a Release is out, and the 24H2 Release is already out (i.e., 26100.1742), how can we then still be seeing Release Previews for 24H2? Shouldn't these be for 25H2"?

The purpose of the Release Preview channel is to test cumulative updates in advance of releasing them to the General Availability channel.

The current public build of 24H2 is 26100.2033, this Release Preview build is for 26100.2152. RP channel is always at least 1 or 2 CUs ahead of the public release.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
I FINALLY got my sfc/ scannow and dism checks to tell me that all is well. Oh...21600;2152 build. I'm not worried about the extra 8.6 Gb's. (if they are really there). I got plenty of room for that and more. The scans was what bothers me and the PC too!

I've just switched my laptop to Windows Insider Release Preview, and KB5044384 is giving me the same problem.

Same deal... stuck on 2033 regardless of switching to Insider Release Preview or not. Only difference was Windows Update downloaded KB5044384, started to install it and the failed at the last moment. Can't go forward, can't go back to relatively bug free 1742 😢

There are probably not a lot of people on here that have received KB5044384 yet.
If you can't find a solution, restore a system image. Uninstalling it doesn't fix the problems that it caused.

I will just have to get my fix for running the latest and greatest by updating my 2nd laptop running Linux Manjaro to Plasma 6.2 and the latest beta kernel.
Has anybody installed from a fresh ISO of 2033 and experienced the same faults or are the faults only created in the updating to 1742 then 2033?

Wondering why on the actual Microsoft Insider download page you can only get build 26100.1150 (screenshot attached) but not the new 26100.2152? I'm getting the dreaded 0x80070003 error code via Windows Update and I've tried all the usual fixes with no success, but now I can't find this latest version in 'file form' anywhere. An ISO install is my last resort here, but I can't seem to discover a direct link to download the thing. Wonder what the deal is?

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

That's because Microsoft don't issue a new ISO for every single new build, only those builds they deem as a significant change. They rely on Window Update to get completely up to date, either by checking for updates during install, or afterwards if you unchecked that option. This has been the case for every channel, whether an Insider channel or General Availability.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I haven’t had any issues with 2033 but I never checked if the file sharing issue was there or the temp file issue. You can do an upgrade (even if it's a downgrade) iso to go to 2033 from windows.

Love fast boots
With this update, I have found that I can login the first time the machine boots, but whenever the machine locks I go to unlock it I am presented with a blurry screen and the network, accessibility and power icon. pressing any key combo like ctrl-alt-del or ctrl-shift-enter does nothing. My only option is to reboot and logon again. The machine works fine until it locks. Rolling back the update resolves the issue (though requires me to reset my PIN and re-enroll my WHfB face ID)

That's the sign in screen, it is supposed to be blurry, it is also supposed to have your user icon and a sign in box in the middle. A missing sign-in box is a rare bug, but has been seen before in various versions of Windows.

It does say in the 26100.2152 MS Insider post that: "[sfc /scannow command] Fixed: You get errors every time you run the command."

I didn't catch that until now. And they are right. It is fixed, at least for me.

I read on the nvidia forum that the black/blanking screens while gaming were fixed in the dev build 26120.2122. Makes me wonder if they'll port that fix down to the RP channel.
