Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are making this year’s annual feature update Windows 11, version 25H2 (Build 26200.5074) available in the Release Preview Channel for customers to preview ahead of general availability later this calendar year.

Windows 11, version 25H2 will be delivered as an enablement package (eKB). This means that Windows 11, version 24H2 and version 25H2 use a shared servicing branch. It also means that they also share the same new features and enhancements delivered through our continuous innovation efforts. Windows 11, version 25H2 also includes some feature removals such as PowerShell 2.0 and Windows Management Instrumentation command-line (WMIC). And for our commercial customers, Windows 11, version 25H2 includes the ability for IT admins to remove select pre-installed Microsoft Store apps via Group Policy/MDM CSP on Enterprise/EDU devices. For more details on Windows 11, version 25H2, see this blog post.

Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel can install Windows 11, version 25H2 via our “seeker” experience in Windows Update. This means if you are an Insider currently in the Release Preview Channel on a PC that meets the Windows 11 hardware requirements, you can go to Settings and Windows Update and choose to download and install Windows 11, version 25H2 if you want. Once you update your PC to Windows 11, version 25H2, you will continue to automatically receive new servicing updates through Windows Update (the typical monthly update process). For instructions on how to join the Windows Insider Program and join your PC to the Release Preview Channel, click here.

Commercial* customers enrolled in the Windows Insider Program for Business can begin validating Windows 11, version 25H2 on PCs in their organizations. For these customers, the Windows 11, version 25H2 is available through Windows Update for Business (WUfB) and Windows Server Update Service (WSUS). Azure Marketplace will be available later today. You can learn more about deploying pre-release feature updates using these deployment methods here. Should any issues arise, IT admins in organizations deploying Release Preview updates can request Microsoft Support.

And finally – ISOs will be available for download for Windows 11, version 25H2 via the Windows Insider ISO download page next week. [UPDATE 9/10] The ISOs for Windows 11, version 25H2 are now available for download.

No that is what happened. When I woke up it changed to the DEV Channel. I did not do that, when I shut down last night, I was on 26200.5074.

Same thing happened to my mother's machine. WU jumped it from RP to DEV so I just set it to come off insiders when the next upgrade is released. I could put it back manually but since we're so close I'm not going to bother with it.

    Acer will not allow WD Black SN8100 to function in m.2 slot 0 and Crucial T710 ssd's to function in either slot.
Installed 26200.5074 without issues using uupdump.net ISO. But no new Start Menu for me. o_Oo_Oo_O

That's happened a couple of times on my wife's PC. Seems that when it booted, it was unable for some reason to logon to her MS accoumt, so for the Insider program it defaulted to Dev channel. Did catch it once before anything happened, but the other time it managed to upgrade to Dev before we realized. I've set it up to take weekly Macrium images so we were able to go back with an image restore.

The current Feature Enablement for Dev Channel Preview Update (KB5054156) does not include a feature ID, so simply installing the eKB will not enable any features expected to be released in 25H2.

When Microsoft Releasing Windows 11, version 25H2 to the General Availability Channel, the completely enablement package (eKB) will be re-released.

You can manually import this registry to enable all rollout features > Enablement Package of features for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2

Microsoft uses CFR technology to control rollout features. Just like when you use ViVetool to enable a feature, it will generate Registry keys in your system.

This is cumulative rollout features. Don't be surprised. There are also a lot of Registry keys in your registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\0, 4, 9 or 15.

Exists in the "Overrides\x" registry to control the rollout features.

Other than it works including language and Networking !! !!!! (or at least on what I use) -- probably a ist for Ms Windows - any release - any build.

I'm running it nicely on an external Nvme (sata type) device attached to PC via USBC connector - works perfectly with decent response times.

What Windows GUI needs to do is beef up some of the really old looking apps such as file explorer etc and start to disable the old apps that still use the old API for browsing files etc that can't use longer than 266 chars for drive/directory/file name lists. With some multi TB drives available on NAS / Linux type servers sharing with Windows that 266 size limit is easily reached these days.

Most Windows apps that request a "File browse" option call the OLD api which is why over 266 chars you still see a garbled dos 8.3 type name -- a VERY few have been modified -- Filezilla is one -- but beware - after transferring a file when you SAVE it the name reverts toa DOS 8.3 format so there's still work to do within Windows.

You don't even need to "Unjoin" Insider -- just delete the reg key -- plenty of links on THIS forum on how to do this and then : -- re-boot,and either rejoin insider at the wanted level and then use WU for update, or just download the build from UUPDUMP and update via setup.exe.

I used Chris Titus Winutill and it reset Local Group Policy and now I am out.
