Improvements​

This out-of-band (OOB) update includes quality improvements. This update is cumulative and includes security fixes and improvements from the October 14, 2025, security update (KB5066835), in addition to the following:
  • [USB] Fixed: After installing the Windows security update released on October 14, 2025 (KB5066835), USB devices, such as keyboards and mice, do not function in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). This issue prevents navigation of any of the recovery options within WinRE. Note that the USB devices continue to work normally within the Windows operating system.

Windows 11 servicing stack update (KB5067360)- 26100.6893​

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates. Known issues in this update​

1 Problems playing protected content in some BluRay/DVD/Digital TV apps

Symptoms
Some Digital TV and Blu-ray/DVD apps might not play protected content as expected after installing the August 29, 2025, Windows non-security preview update (KB5064081), or later updates.

Apps that use Enhanced Video Renderer with HDCP enforcement or Digital Rights Management (DRM) for digital audio might show copyright protection errors, frequent playback interruptions, unexpected stops, or black screens.

Streaming services are not affected.

Workaround
The non-security September 2025 Windows preview update (KB5065789) and later updates address problems affecting certain applications that use the Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR) with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) enforcement. The non-security October Windows preview update (KB5067036) includes additional improvements to address problems affecting applications using Digital Rights Media (DRM) for digital audio.

2 IIS websites might fail to load

Symptoms
After installing the non-security September update (KB5065789) for Windows 11, version 25H2, or the security October update (KB5066835) for Windows 11, version 24H2, server-side applications that rely on HTTP.sys might experience issues with incoming connections. As a result, Internet Information Services (IIS) websites might fail to load and display an error message such as “Connection reset – error (ERR_CONNECTION_RESET)” or a similar message. This includes websites hosted on http://localhost/ and other IIS connections.

This issue may result from various conditions, including internet connectivity, timing of update installation, and device restarts. It might not occur in all environments, even if the update is installed.

The following steps can help resolve this issue in environments where it's observed:
  1. On the affected device, open Settings and go to Windows Update.
  2. Select Start , type Check for updates, and Check for updates from the results.
  3. If updates are available, install them.
  4. Restart your device.
Note: Make sure to restart your device, even if no updates are installed.

Workaround

This issue is addressed in KB5067036.

Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM.exe) to install the target update. DISM will use the folder specified in PackagePath to discover and install one or more prerequisite MSU files as needed.

1 This latest cumulative update includes updates for AI components. Even though the AI component updates are included in the update, the AI components are only applicable to Windows Copilot+ PCs and will not install on Windows PC or Windows Server.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

Btw, is Indexing Turned Off or On? You could try rebuilding it - if it's On. Since you can access it from Legacy Control Panel (Win + R type Control Panel - and use the Search from Up-Right Corner to look for "Indexing Options").

Also, did you try creating a new user account - to see if it works there?

I think the problem is from "Widgets" or "WebView" because after waiting about 1 minute, when widgets and webview load, search behavior turns back to normal

It's possible, WebView2 in particular - since that's responsible for rendering web based elements - including results from the web or other dynamic content. You could try removing and reinstalling it: Microsoft Edge WebView2 | Microsoft Edge Developer

Personally, i don't like Windows Search tied to Web Content Searches and such (i use only web browsers for that), so have it disable - and use it for offline - searching for included apps only (windows apps in particular - since it's customized and recently improved for that). Have indexing disabled as well - cause i use Everything - as file search manager (superior to Windows - faster too and less aggressive - compared to Windows files indexing). If disabled - that issue could go away. But this is also a matter of personal taste - maybe you prefer to use Windows search for web content as well.

25H2 is starting to feel like Windows 8.1, LOL! Random Windows Update error code on the other PC.
(On 8.1, I would get a Windows Update error code randomly on a clean install!)

That was before I wiped that SSD again and installed with the latest MCT 25H2 media.
Now, I'm not going past '6899 on the A320/Ryzen 7 3700X/GeForce RTX 3050 build.

I dread getting 0x800f0983 again on that build.

Hi to everyone.
I carefully read all this thread trying to find answers to my problem but I din't succed to.
My problem when I try to install KB5070773 and even the KB5070762 is a bit different: when system reboots to apply the update I receive a "boot_device_inaccessible (error 0x7b)". Then I force system reboot twice and system repair rolls back my Windows 11 to 26200.6584 version and everything run fine.
I ran sfc /scannow, dism with restorehealth with no luck. I also tried to use "resolve problem with Windows updates" but the result is alway the "boot_device_inaccessible". I updates all my drivers, I don't use secure boot. I tried to reset windows update (stopping services and deleting SoftwareDistribution folder), tried to download update from Microsoft catalogue but the result is still the same.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Maybe try the offline, stand alone installers...


Choose the 2nd one down x64 (assuming you're not on an ARM processor), for 25H2, and if it will let you, install the KB5043080 first.
Then install the KB5070773 next.

If it doesn't let you install KB5043080, that's OK, just move on to KB5070773.

Have you changed any hardware or any BIOS settings, recently?

You updated the BIOS?
If so, that may be the cause. The latest BIOS for my AMD board breaks my Win 11 activation (Local Account).

If you have flashed the BIOS to F31, I would check the BIOS settings. Some may have been changed.
For example... on my ASUS board I need to have CSM... Enabled.

On most motherboards, including ASUS, this isn't the case.


Another thing that can break Windows updates is having unnecessary USB devices attached, when trying to do the update.
Sometimes it's a game controller or a dock, etc. No real rhyme or reason.

Yes, I updated my MB to F31, then I reverted it to F29 and tried to update but the result is alway "boot_drive_inaccessible". I think you need CSM enabled because you don't have setup UEFI boot? I have it and CSM has been disabled for years.

Yes... but F31 made some serious changes. I would enable CSM and try the update again.
CSM is just my guess. It may be some other setting that F31 changed?

F31 description...

  1. Checksum : 333E
  2. Enhance platform security by enable Pre-boot DMA Protection, VT-d, and IOMMU Pre-boot as default
  3. Added CPU support for Intel 120/120F processors
  4. Update CSME version to 16.1.38.2676v4.1
  5. Added support for AI TOP Utility v4.1.1


Unfortunately, I haven't run an Intel processor since around 2004. :(
