Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7752 (KB5074177) to the Beta Channel.

Changes in Beta Channel builds and updates are documented in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update*) and then new features, improvements, and fixes rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel. Previously announced here, Windows now brings Sysmon functionality natively to Windows. Sysmon functionality allows you to capture system events that can help with threat detection, and you can use custom configuration files to filter the events you want to monitor. Built-in Sysmon is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled.
  1. Go to Settings > System > Optional features > More Windows features > checking Sysmon or in PowerShell or command prompt:

    Dism /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:Sysmon
  2. To complete the installation, from PowerShell or command prompt run:

    Sysmon -i
Note: If you’ve already installed Sysmon from the website, it must be uninstalled before enabling the built-in Sysmon.

[Voice Access]​

  • Support for the Netherlands locale has been added.

Fixes gradually being rolled out with toggle on*​

[File Explorer]​

  • We fixed a few issues in File Explorer, including accessibility improvements (keyboard navigation and access keys), folder renaming with custom names, and missing icons/tooltips for “Add to favorites”.

[Other]​

  • We fixed an issue that caused apps to freeze when working with files on OneDrive or Dropbox. Some Outlook setups with PSTs on OneDrive could also hang or reload email data.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel​

  • Updates are based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package (Build 26220.7752).
  • Many features are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • For Windows Insiders who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your PC over time once they are ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.

With this update to 26220.7752 they still did not fix the flashing problem with file explorer.
The behavior is changed from the previous builds, but the problem is still reproduceable by changing the app color mode from light to dark while explorer is opened on Home and then adding new tabs. See animation below. 😂🤷‍♂️
Will they ever fix this properly? 😵‍💫

UPDATE: Actually it appeared on mine too. Wonder what that is. Maybe something to do with [Built-in Sysmon]. I did activated it. Did you?

2. Should I remove it?
  • No Action Required: If your computer is functioning normally, you can ignore it.
  • It Will Reappear: If you manually remove or uninstall this device, Windows will likely recreate it after the next restart or update, as it is often tied to system-level tests.

3. What does "Loopback" mean?
Loopback refers to a method where the computer sends data to itself. In this case, the operating system uses this virtual device to test if its own internal services can correctly send and receive data without needing to use external network hardware.
Summary: This is normal behavior, and the device is harmless. It is just Windows performing internal diagnostic checks.

So dont worry about that i guess.

Whew I had a weird update this time. All looked fine, but then I noticed running Quicken was fine except closing it was VERY slow - pieces of the UI going away one at a time. Odd. So I decided to click Start and restart Windows, after I clicked Start, none of the commands in the menu could be clicked! Same thing for right clicking Start. So I decided to run Command in Admin mode, and I got this multiple times:

But running command in normal mode was fine. So with all this weirdness, I did a shutdown /s from the command line, once it shut down I started it, and everything is fine. Command/admin gives me the authorization window right away, Quicken runs and is quick to exit again, and Start menu works fine. Wow.
