Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.8079 (KB 5079482) to the Beta Channel.

Changes in Beta Channel builds and updates are documented in two buckets: new features, and improvements (including notable fixes) that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update*) and then new features, and improvements (including notable fixes) rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel. Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out with toggle on*​

[Input]​

  • Improved explorer.exe reliability when closing the input flyout.
  • Improved reliability of configuring fluid dictation option in voice typing (Windows key plus H) settings.

[Network and Sharing]​

  • We fixed an issue where the Network and Sharing Center could incorrectly display two active Wi-Fi connections after switching from one Wi-Fi network to another. The Network and Sharing Center now correctly reflects a single active Wi-Fi connection when you connect to a new network.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel​

  • Updates are based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package (Build 26220.8079).
  • Many features are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • The desktop watermark shown at the lower right corner of the desktop is normal for Windows Insider pre-release builds.
  • For Windows Insiders who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your PC over time once they are ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.

I'm wondering when Beta (or even Dev) will become Release preview - RP is at .8106 so a higher build number.

I did read somewhere that the full-screen Xbox app experience will be dropping in April for all channels

I'm still at a loss, as to why my Workspaces were lost, after the previous Windows update. Some people had a similar experience to mine and were advised by Microsoft that Workspace entities and data were transferred from Windows Onedrive to local machine, per Microsoft User. I haven't found good literature on the reasons and processes to make the change. Does anyone here know?

This replaced my Linux Notebook. I've used Windows since V2, tried various Linux distros but Windows continues to win for me.
26220.8079 installed without a hitch, through Windows Update, upgrade, in ~3 minutes, including reboots. So far, so good.

PSA: StartAllBack 3.9.21 was no impediment to installation, seems fully compatible with these builds, so far. Also, I don't use One Drive at all. With ~12 TBs total storage I don't need it, and the whole OS seems far more streamlined without it. My preference is for local storage over cloud.

Great New system. Exceeds my expectations by quite a bit, btw. I love the USB G8 SoundBlaster, it's quite an improvement over the G6!
This updated on Saturday. I just noticed (I hadn't paid attention) that my HD icons are showing blank docs instead of correct icons. I've spent an hour rebuilding caches and futzing with registry, no avail. Anyone else having issues?

I just checked whether I had it and it turned out that it was installed on March 20th in the evening UK time. Much earlier than my usual update times.

While it is possible to get rid of the watermark and I even know how to. I won't explain how to do it.

The watermark is there for a reason. Live with it or jump off the insider program and start using official release builds if such tiny detail annoys you.

Watermark is still there. There use to be a little app (I still have it) as well as a reg hack to remove it but those no longer work now. Seems MS has overridden that bypass. I've gotten use to it on my last three beta builds and don't worry about it anymore.

Ah, so there is a new version 2 now for the new beta builds lol. I have the original that no longer works. I'll just live with the watermark now for that one beta machine.
