Insider KB5127930 Windows 11 Insider Experimental (26H2) build 26340.9843 - Oct. 30

 Microsoft Support:

Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out

[Windows Search]

  • We're expanding the new Windows Search experience that began rolling out earlier this month with more ways to find what you need and take action directly from Search.

  • Inline actions: Adjust your volume, screen brightness, or cursor size with inline sliders. Actions are more clearly labeled, and suggested actions help you discover more things you can do.

Screenshot that shows a slider control appearing in inline action results, allowing the setting to be adjusted directly from Windows Search.

  • Phone actions: With a supported phone connected through Phone Link, you can now call or text a friend and access phone actions such as Do Not Disturb. Android support is available now with iPhone support coming early next year.

Screenshot that shows three Windows Search views showing phone actions for turning on Do Not Disturb, sending a text message, and making a call from a connected phone.

  • Richer results: Preview files and see details such as a file's last modified date, location, and author. Get web answers for weather, stocks, and facts, and discover apps and games from the Microsoft Store. Like web results, app results from the Store can be toggled on or off in Settings > Privacy & security > Search.

  • Result filters: Scroll to see more results and filter by Files & Folders, Settings, Actions, and more.

  • Feedback controls: Right-click a result or suggestion and choose thumbs up or thumbs down to tell us whether it was helpful. Thanks to your feedback, you can also remove items from the initial Search view before you type. We've also made small polish improvements to the look and feel of Windows Search based on what you've shared.

  • As noted in our blog post, the new Windows Search opens at the bottom center of the screen. Work is underway to have it adapt to different taskbar positions and when using search from the Start menu.

[Gaming]

  • We're bringing Quick settings to the Gaming Task View navigation bar in XBOX mode, giving you access to the full set of Quick settings available on the Windows taskbar without having to leave XBOX mode.

[Settings]

See your family's shared Microsoft 365 cloud storage in Windows Settings
  • Windows Settings now contains shared storage usage across Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions. A breakdown for each family member is coming soon. If your subscription was purchased after October 8, 2026, you can check the view by going to Settings > Accounts > Cloud storage. If your subscription was purchased before October 8, 2026, this view will be available for you after the first subscription renewal on or after May 2, 2027. Learn more about the changes to Microsoft 365 storage.

Upgrade your Microsoft 365 subscription directly in Settings
  • Windows Insiders with eligible Microsoft 365 subscriptions can now explore upgrade options and upgrade their subscription through an integrated dialog in Settings > Accounts, rather than being redirected to a browser. Selecting Upgrade on the Microsoft 365 subscription card opens the new experience without leaving Settings.

[Windows design]

  • We are temporarily rolling back the solid (donut) spinners across some of the key Windows scenarios including Boot, Logon, Restart, Shutdown, and Update as we work on a bug. We expect to resume rolling it out soon.

[Known issues]

  • We're investigating reports from Insiders that the CPU speed showing in Task Manager no longer updates after the latest flights.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Experimental channel

  • Updates are based on Windows 11, version 26H2 via an enablement package (Build 26340.9843).
  • Many features are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time. We monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • The desktop watermark shown at the lower right corner of the desktop is normal for Windows Insider pre-release builds.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds might never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features might change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they're ready.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders might not be fully localized, and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.
  • Check out Flight Hub for a complete look at what build is in which Insider channel.

If this is what you are referring to, I only have it on 28120.3393, it is disabled on 26340.9843. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️

It also has a bug, I type something to search, and it changes it to something different. 😵‍💫🤣🤷‍♂️
Looks like they are trying to guess what the user is looking for, seems like a bad use of A.I.
Yup, that's what I've got on .9843
And I'm not seeing that particular issue with searching. It's working as expected.

I think they have another A.I. experiment on my machine, they try to guess the user search intention. 😵‍💫😂🤷‍♂️

Edit:

The problem disappeared by magic when I reset those vivetool ids and rebooted.
Microsoft reenabled those with Priority:11, no idea why, given that they have the feature Flag enabled.
After that everything seems to be back to normal, the search is no longer trying to guess the intention of the user,
like it did earlier. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤞

B.T.W.
Priority:11 is used when the IDs are modified toggling the new feature flags in settings.
One Flag can modify one or multiple IDs that are needed for one feature.
