Good morning, folks. I've been remiss in posting here, but like
@Bree, I've been busier than a one-armed paper hanger . . . I can say that because my grand-daddy was one-armed.
As I've told y'all, I had colo-rectal cancer and beat it, but I just couldn't seem to beat the neuropathy in my hands and feet caused by the final chemo treatments to be sure it's really gone.
Soooooo, walking into the kitchen around February 22, one minute I was upright and the next, the neurapathy took over and I went down hard. I crawled to the living room where my phone was and called my son-in-law and told him, "I fell and I can't get up!" Never thought I'd have to say those words.
Fast forward to the emergency room and diagnosis of broken outside and inside of left ankle bones. They didn't even bother with my right ankle (dumb butts!). Into a room for surgery the next day with a two day stay afterward because of my age. Hmph!
Morning of surgery, I called Bone Doc's attention to right ankle, and he said they'd be doing X-rays anyway and he'd X-ray it. Yup, it was fractured too, but not as badly as the left ankle.
Four weeks in "boot" for right foot and
no weight bearing on left foot! One week ago boot was transferred from right foot to left foot and a brace added to right foot.
Finally I have some freedom!
In the meantime, I had a borrowed knee scooter and a couple other things (for convenience) to at least get around the house with. Talk about a chore! It threw me once, but no damage, thank goodness. I learned to back into a space no wider than the scooter!
Now I have graduated to a walker, and am progressing nicely. Cyndi and I will be returning most of the equipment (so nice to have friends) surrounding my chair!
Two more weeks and the boot and brace on right foot come off!
