UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Good morning Marie.
8+ hours, you needed that :-)

Just got the call from the garage. The Polo failed on just one thing, a worn anti-rollbar bush. They're fixing it now, should be ready to pick up in a couple of hours.

Morning Marie. Have to hit the sack earlier.

That is good news Bree. I can't believe we don't have any inspections to pass, got to be a lot of dangerous vehicles out their.

Good luck today Borg. I imagine with all things that have happened to your wife, with little goods news, it would drive anyone's emotions. Give her a hug.

Morning Mike. Good to see you posting. Sorry to hear about your medical issues. Hopefully you are well on your way to recovery.

Morning Marie,

Thanks, backs a bit sore but always is every year after I have to move in/out the AC units.

The problem lies with her unfortunately, the stroke changed her mental state, not for the better I'm afraid:(

Got an old lappy I'm trying to reset but it's missing the reset partition, it's running Win 8. So got something to play with. I have a copy of 8.1 on disk so we'll see if that can help.

If I can't get it to reset, which I don't trust too much anyway, I might just yank the drive & wipe it with one of my wipe proggies.

Morning :-)
I know the feeling.. i also get a sore back moving things that is to heavy for me to move.. I hope you feel better again in a few hours, so its a short one. :-)
Yeah, strokes have a tendency to change people's mental state.. both direly of the stroke itself, but also afterwards with life changes.. but that is not only stroke, that can be other long term sicknesses, so people's mental state changes when they have a life change.. I feel that one myself.
I was a lot more happier and social and helped people before i got sick and isolated.. also my temper was from another world.. you could push me for years before i finally got pissed.. today people just have to push me a few times and i bite back.
So i can guess its both for your wife.. both the injury of the stroke itself and also the life changing situation in a big mix.

Is the OEM recovery partition gone.. and no OEM disk to it.. Try to contact the manufacturer and ask if they can send you a new recovery DVD/USB. I often do that with Retro computers i save in my collection, as i want the original OS in a computer i plan on saving for the future. :-)
But you can also just install win8.1 again :-) it should identify the OEM key in bios during install. :-)

Good morning Marie.
8+ hours, you needed that :-)

Just got the call from the garage. The Polo failed on just one thing, a worn anti-rollbar bush. They're fixing it now, should be ready to pick up in a couple of hours.

Sorry to hear that, hope your doing well now.

I'm on just the one med, and that's only once every 3 months - hormone therapy to keep the prostate cancer from coming back.
Well... two if you count the statins, but seems everyone over a certain age is on those now ;)
