I never bothered with LibreOffice's built in update checker..
You can go to its main website and grab it there.
It is out on their main website.

Does version 25 just overwrite V24 in the way normal updates do or would it create a new instance of LibreOffice meaning both versions would then be installed?

There are the "WHQL" and "pre-release" installs of LibreOffice. Both have their own separate updates that replace them with the latest version.

Hmm... don't speak to soon... it's a total buggy disaster for me. In dark mode (system) 90% of the cells in Calc spreadsheets lose all there content visually but the info is present if you hover over a cell. Changes don't apply randomly and the appearance seems different every time it is opened.

Top line tool bar goes AWOL.

I have spreadsheet that are crammed full of figures and formula (not shown here) and most of turns pitch black in dark mode with just a handful of cells showing visible data.

The click boxes to apply changes turn white and vanish.

Fortunately... I made a full Macrium image first. All undone and back to v24.
