I just have an idea on how to use the same network hardware on every computer. I will just use the same USB C hub on every box. When I create the rescue drive, it will contain driver for the NIC on the hub and when I transport the hub to the other computer, it will retain that NIC. I will try it and see if it works.

That may help with your Bluetooth devices, but straight forward networking is not usually an issue. The Windows base WIM that the rescue media is built on already contains Microsoft basic drivers for most of the common NICs. The most frequently reported cases where drivers have to be added are for a few NVMe SSDs.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

A new update, v8.1.8853 - 13th April 2026.

This update contains no new fixes, apparently it's something to do with new licence keys. Reflect X got the same thing last week.

It may have something to with Macrium Reflect LTSC. Corporate customers have the option to switch to Reflect LTSC rather than to Reflect X.

Macrium Reflect LTSC is based on a stable version of Macrium Reflect 8.1. Macrium Reflect 8 was released on the 17th May 2021, with the 8.1 update being released on the 10th January 2023. Since the release, we have continued to finetune Macrium Reflect 8 with bug fixes and security patches to a point where we are confident that Macrium Reflect 8 is a stable foundation for the LTSC edition.

They're only bound to provide security updates, as far as I know. This might play into Paramount Software's hands.

I've complained to them they are breaking UK consumer law and are in breach of contract unless they fix the problem, offer a free upgrade or refund the licence cost.

I'm sure of the UK law and my next step is to threaten them with the UK claims court which is simple since both parties are in the UK.

The problem is that Microsoft have included all versions of psmoumterex.sys in the updated Vulnerable Drive Blocklist that was installed as part of the KB5083769 Patch Tuesday update. Reflect X can still mount drives because it does not use psmounterex.sys. Macrium are aware of the issue.

Macrium Support said:
psmounterex.sys is not used within Version X (10), this is why you would be able to mount images using vX.
This issue will only affect Version 8.1 users who have applied the latest Windows 11 update (KB5083769)
We are continuing to investigate this further and will provide updates as more information becomes available

psmounterex.sys load error - (Page 3)

There are ways to disable the vulnerable drive block list (bad idea!) but @garlin has provided a way to roll back to the previous version if you really need to mount drives in the mean time and has provided a script to do that safely.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

MR 8.1.8853 payed version but it lapsed 2 years ago.
I was counting on being able to mount image directly from file explorer when I need to look at files or play a movie from it. It worked couple of month ago when I tried it last time. In consists of several folders, 297GB. all told One reason for it was to use less space than original and other to be able to copy or move as one file. It had several incremental backups since, Now I have to find space to restore to be able to backup with Hasleo or is there a way convert to Halseo format directly.? I have no way to pay for MR-x nor I would want to when Hasleo does decent job so I will have to switch to Hasleo (which I use on Insider Beta anyway).

One workaround is to boot from the rescue media and use that to browse an image, either from the Boot Menu or a USB. Provided you haven't updated the Boot Menu since installing the KB5083769 Patch Tuesday update you can still browse images. If you have updated the Boot Menu, then boot from an older USB and copy the C:\Boot\Macrium folder from an older image, as I had to do.

Be careful not to rebuild the rescue media, the latest WIM includes the updated Vulnerable Drive Blocklist and will block you from mounting an image.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
Found it from rescue USB but couldn't mount. Started to restore but run out of space so now restoring to another disk but its very, very slow, much slower than when it's whole partition or disk.
I mean time, made full system disk backup with Hasleo, checked and restored without problems. Deleted MR definition and backups. Once I finish restoring files, I'm going to uninstall MR for ever. Can't trust it any more so no use for it.

All done MR uninstalled. Now going to check on laptop with W10, there is old MR 8.0 which was free.
