Solved Latest Macrium Reflect 8 updates

As a long-time user of various versions of Macrium Reflect Home and as a frequent visitor to their Forums, there are not a lot of bugs in Macrium Reflect updates, and those that do happen, as apparently has just occurred, are investigated and rectified quickly by the MR team. They have top-notch support on their Forums. In my view, MR is the best imaging software available. Others may differ.

Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but is anyone purchasing the Macrium subscription plan? I have two computers running Reflect; my choices are 1 computer or 4 computers (LOL). The Black Friday $49/4 computers price seems reasonable...sort of, though I don't really like software subscription plans.

I'm happy to buy four licences for £50. I hope I don't need to renew for a few years. I think people who have problems with MR may have corrupted systems and blame MR unfairly.

Wow - that's some sweeping assumption! In my case, #604 and later, I submitted a ticket and was sent a link to a new download which rectified the issue. I'm a long time user and big believer in the paid version of MR but even Macrium aren't perfect.

Like @kelper, I purchase a four-license pack of each new full version of MR for my two computers. It is a very reasonable price when you consider how well it does the job of creating system images and the many options available. I don't bother with differentials and incremental backups, preferring weekly full system images. In between, I copy my new and modified data files to another drive and send a copy to OneDrive so I am safe.

I concur with @fixer, but Macrium Reflect comes as close to perfect as I have seen in my many years of using computers. And, @kelper is correct that too many users blame software applications for issues with their own computers, unrelated to the software apps on which they place the blame.

Personally, I am not a fan of subscription plans. Whenever possible, I like to purchase a "lifetime" license for software. That is not always possible. Good real-time security software apps are all subscription-based these days.

The Black Friday Sale 4 for $49.99 is not a "buy" model. It is a yearly subscription, more a lease like AV. Of course this offer adds 6 free months which would concern me as there will be no Black Friday sales in April / May of 2025.

Not sure if this price (4 for $49.99) will be available to existing clients every Black Friday. That said it could be.

Price offerings may be country specific. I just see US dollar offerings.

I got notice as well. Looks like I should also update the rescue media for both of my computers this afternoon. The patch installed successfully. My usual backup day is Friday so I will find out then if there are any issues with this latest update. I am showing as licensed, so that is good. I did not update to the previous patch because last Friday was an Easeus Todo Backup Home week. I alternate.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

I'm back to 7675 now, but in 7771, I tried again to make a bootable, and attempts to use it didn't work (again). Fortunately, I have several backup bootables, so I used one of those (built from 7675) to restore last night's image and return me to 7675.

I'm not sure why you seem to have problems building bootable media, but I have just successfully built the 8.1.7771 .wim to update the boot menu, and then updated my rescue usb. I've booted from the usb several times now, and confirmed that 7771 does show the list of existing backups again.

Rebooted a couple of times and got nowhere with 7771, so I restored to 7675. Checked splash, and my name was there with my license number. Help About, though, still showed N/A, so I thought I'd try Help > Update license key. That had my license pre-entered, and it called the server and confirmed the license number and my name. Then when I checked Help > About, my name was there. Maybe that's all one had to do to get the name instead of N/A, but we shouldn't have had to do that.
