Slightly OT, but I run the old 8.0 Macrium on my Win 10 machine, and it gave me an update notice and a 403 when I tried to Download and run the patch. No big deal, just odd.

Not OT at all, I keep post #1 updated for Reflect Free v8.0 too. Thanks for the heads up.

The download error is not uncommon for a new patch from Macrium, it's usually due to the change at the main server not having rippled out to the CDN servers yet. Give it an hour and try again.

I did already, having made one earlier this week for my desktop for 7771. Fortunately, I only fire up my laptop on my update, backup, and scan Fridays, so I had not updated the laptop Rescue Media. Both are now done. From the information provided in the Update Notice, several bugs with Rescue Media were fixed, which made it imperative to update my Rescue Media for both computers.

After you made that new rescue flash drive, did you reboot and test it to see whether it would boot into MR?
I only ask because I've been having trouble lately with the new updates and building the new Rescue Media. Mine just fail to boot into MR over and over. I have to fiddle and fuddle around for a bit, just to get them to build and work correctly.

Format the USB stick (FAT32)

OK. Followed those instructions. Says successfully built, but it always says that just before I close MR, close all open programs, Restart, and use F12 to get the boot menu, and then watch the blue screen come up with "keyboard layout" in it. Dead end.

So, here goes. Back soon.

We have successfully addressed a longstanding issue related to the rescue media, rectifying the potential failure to auto-populate the 'Existing Backups' view. The root cause of this problem was identified as a change, made by Windows Update on some systems, to a GPT attribute setting that concealed the system volume at PE startup.

When I get to the boot menu I see TWO Corsair Voyager GT... USB sticks... I have to choose the UEFI one...

My BIOS is set to UEFI. If it were set to "Other OS" I would have to choose the non-UEFI USB stick.
They're both the same USB stick, but with two options... UEFI or non-UEFI

I always checkmark the MBR/UEFI box at the bottom (#3), when I make the Macrium bootable rescue Media...

Same here but it's because my USB stick is 16GB (smallest I have) so it's divided into 2 partitions (G: and H:) as it has to BOOT from Fat32. The rest of it partition H: is NTFS and using it for storage.

PS. Third time no notification for new build. My last 7771 Rescue media build is still displaying old and deleted backups as an error. Maybe because I'm just updating it instead of building new one.
PS2. My BIOS is also set to UEFI but windows and MR can BOOT in CSM mode too.

Same, 16GB, but I'm never gonna put anything else on my Macrium stick, so I just made it all FAT32

(Gotcha. Knew all that. I'm always offered the USB stick - plain, and the USB stick UEFI, and I always choose the UEFI option.)

It worked! Restart and F12 was successful, got into MR, and saw the list of available images. That was the first time I've seen that list on opening the MR screen. I've always had to "Browse for backups."

So now that stick, of all the half dozen or so working MR Rescue sticks in my collection, is PE, and all the others are RE, and they work. Can you explain to me why I had to switch from the RE to the PE?

Now that I think back to yesterday's (maybe the day before's) fuddling around with deleting the "boot" folder and then rebuilding it in MR, I suppose what I was accomplishing (which, by the way, made my RM-building succeed) was what the Uninstall panel offered with that last option and the subsequent 1.7GB download-and-rebuild operation.

NO.
I use PE cause I don't have a Recovery partition, or the files to create an RE stick.

If you have a Recovery partition, you can choose either.
I noticed step #6 in Macrium's RE directions was a bit different. ^^

I miss the old Norton Ghost 2003. It quit working on Win 7 and above.
But it was sooooo easy.

Just tell it to build the bootable media, and that was it.
Didn't need any of this "witchcraft" or "voodoo" to get things to work. LOL

Microsoft could mess up a straight line. LOL

But I HAVE a recovery partition on both my office PCs, and after the recent MR updates, building a new stick has always failed to produce a bootable-into-MR stick.
