I quit doing Windows Insider for good reason.
My Win 8.1 key activated my Win 11 without issue on a clean install.

The best way to play with all that beta stuff is to designate a PC for all your rogue undertakings, make drive images, and treat it like a sand box. That way you lose nothing and your main PC stays in shape. Of course, you could always roll with VM ware but who has time for that?

I made a back up of my back up of my back up of my back up and Windows OVER WROTE all my backups with a backup and died.

Anyway, I was getting sick of seeing the "This Build will expire soon" thing, so I decided to try Update one more time...,
well, there was too many glitches on 25941, or whatever the number is, plus, SAB was totally fubar there, so I went back to the previous Build...,
and, that's when all hell broke loose! There's corruption all over the place! 🤷‍♂️

I've never had a serious problem with any builds that restoring back to the previous build didn't fix. The problems always got fixed on the next release. The problem I have is that there's been nothing exciting released lately. I think the Tabbed File Explorer was the last thing I was excited about.
