Losing Signal with static electricity

I might be wrong about the cause being static electricity but if I walk away from the desk my TV, TCL 6-Series, will blank out for a second and sometimes lose signal. To get it back I have to change the refresh rate under Windows Advanced Display Settings.

I'm not on carpet, wood floors. The Desktop is set up high behind the TV.
At first I thought it was a port on the back of the 7900xtx so I swapped the cable around to another port on the GPU but now I suspect it's the cable itself.
I do not have another cable capable of 3840x2160 144hz, or even anything over 60hz.
Before I go out and buy another one I was hoping someone out here could tell me if they've had this issue and if a new cable was the fix.
I've been using it for a couple years now with no issues. I hope it's not the GPU, also a couple years old.
There's no wobbling or shaking, no loose connections.

See installing the newest GPU driver will help also make sure Windows 11 upto date.

SOMETHING WEIRD is going on........

Something WEIRD is going on now. Every time I get up from my chair, my MAIN screen goes black for several seconds. It does not do that as long as I am setting here. . . My chair NOT connected to my PC at all . . . . .

The drivers are up to date. It's been doing this for a while now but it was more like a flicker. Now I'm just straight up losing all connection.

Make sure GPU connected to slot securely also run Sfc /scannow command from Command Prompt.

Try Linux live bootable distro to see if it happens with other operating systems.

@GetTheClicker There were suggestions in there about grounding the chair, trying a new chair, using an anti-static mat, etc. I’m not sure if OP ever said whether it was resolved.

I attached a video to the original post above. It's only on this tv... it doesn't affect anything else at all. It's just the oddest thing. I'm not a sure a mat would help but I guess I could look into it.

Not sure if this is helpful but some TV’s have motion, proximity, or environmental sensor interaction.

Go into your TCL TV’s settings and disable:

"Ambient Light Sensor"
"Energy Saving Mode"
"Auto Power Savings"
Any “Motion Detection”, “Proximity Sensor”, or “Eco Sensor” features

Even if just to search for related settings and try. It may be listed in your manual?
But as this is only recent, it wouldn’t make sense.

What happens if you slowly roll the chair back a few feet, away from the desk? Instead of getting up, which is the popular hypothesis.

OoOoO That's new... nothing happens when I roll back. So I can't stand up until I've rolled back as you suggested.

Last check for update was 6/1/25 Last released update was 4/18/25 so It's up to date.

First thing I do when I get a new tv is turn off all the auto and eco crap. Just double checked it's all disabled.

I didn't realize there was a 2nd hdmi port that could handle 144hz on the tv so I tried that and instead of flickering on command, it randomly goes black for a few seconds which while gaming is an eternity.

The HDMI side of the cable going into the tv is hot to the touch. Not burn off your fingerprints hot but alarmingly warm. The Display port side of the cable coming out of the GPU is cold or room temp.

If we are talking about games, the refresh rate in the game settings matches the TV frequency ?
Are the games run in windowed mode ?

This goes back to the "it sounds strange" theory that static electricity is involved with your chair. The further back you go, any electrical field that's generated drops as a function of distance.

You can try rolling back the chair at normal speed, and then get up at arm's length away from the desk's edge.

The refresh rate in game is always set to match but that doesn't matter as it happens at any time on command with HDMI 1. HDMI 2 is random and longer blackouts. Doesn't matter if it's windowed borderless or full screen.

Ok so it's not solved because I haven't been able to get a hold of a quality cable to see if that is in fact the issue.
Rolling back a few feet with the chair does seem to help but the second someone walks by it will either flicker or lose signal again.
Not rolling back, full blackout.
Rolling back a foot, no blackout but the lower right corner and mid section of the TV have some odd visual flicker. Not the entire tv, just a couple spots. You can see them in the video before the full flicker.
2-3 feet seems to be the sweet spot but then coming back to the computer, not even sat down yet, it will flicker again.
Doesn't matter if I'm wearing shoes or bare feet. Something on me is still causing the disturbance. As far as I know there's no metal plates or anything bolted to my bones. No pacemaker either. Glasses are plastic and there's no piercings. Sooooo I'm genuinely stumped aside from assuming it's just a bad cable or perhaps it's the TV itself? It's only a couple years old.

Bare feet? Makes it unlikely to be static charges.

My guess is a bad connection, that's being affected by small vibrations. Connector or cable.
