LTIBootstrap.vbs is sitting in my C: drive. No idea what it does but Defender doesn't object to it and my system doesn't seem to have any issues. Do I need to do anything? I could try removing it and restoring an image afterwards if all OK. Any ideas?

There's a file with that name from the old Microsoft Deployment Toolkit. Do you mess around with building Windows deployments?

Not on this machine. Purchased new in Nov 21 with Win 11 Pro and never messed about with at all.

It's a Lafite 14 and was configured by PC Specialist in the UK. Think I'll ask them if they know anything about it.

If you want to rename it to a text file and post it, I can take a look. I think I remember enough about MDT to see if that’s what it is.

From Copilot: "This is a VBScript file used in the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT). It’s part of the Lite Touch Installation (LTI) process, which is a feature of MDT that allows system administrators to install Windows on multiple computers with minimal interaction. The LTIBootstrap.vbs script is responsible for initializing the deployment environment. It sets up the necessary variables and parameters for the deployment process."

Yes, that’s from the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, as the AI and I suspected. I’d bet whoever setup the laptop used MDT to automate the install of Windows. You can delete it.

Few years ago I played around with a Timeshift type program whose name I can't now remember but it did require downloading additional files from MS, probably MDT files. I probably did try it on the laptop before finally dropping it The supplier confirms it is part of the MDT and advises not removing it. Anyway, clearly harmless so can just be ignored. Thanks for help, I just wondered what a vbs file was doing in my boot folder.

They're mistaken. Once the OS is deployed with MDT, you don’t need to keep that file anymore. There is even code at the end of the script to delete itself.

Code:
On Error Resume Next
oFSO.DeleteFile Wscript.ScriptFullName, true
On Error Goto 0
