I took my chances and applied the registry hack. It works

On desktop I have 2 windows 11 installation on separate ssd.

I applied the registry hack on the practice windows 11

Instead of disabling the entire block list, an alternative is switching to the previous version of the blocklist. So you have most of the same protections as before, but minus the latest drivers added to the list. Not perfect, but if you really need to run Macrium 8, then it's a fair compromise.

Using a PS script borrowed from a Windows security guru, I exported the names of the blocked drivers.

April 2026 adds the following 12 banned drivers:

ProcObsrvesx.sys

TSDRVX64.SYS

Presuming you didn't go out and freshly install software products which contain these specific drivers, then reverting to the older blocklist doesn't represent a huge security risk.

Here's what i did to mount the image in Windows 11 without too much of a hassle.

This method might only be available to:
  • Windows 11 Pro
  • Windows 11 Enterprise
  • or Windows 11 Education
In order to use viBoot with Hyper-V manager.

I'm not entirely sure about this, because maybe you can still create the .vhdx file and mount it without having Hyper-V manager installed.
