Solved Making desktop icon shortcut

Before I switched to Windows 11 if I wanted to make a desktop shortcut to a website all I had to do was copy the address and then go "New" on the desktop and the next screen gave me the option to save to desktop. Now I don't seem to have that option under Win 11. Any answer as to why???

I did my best to download and install reg files but even after restart nothing changed in the Context menu. I even found an old post that said to download WinaeroTweaker and to enable Classic Context menu. Even after another restart nothing changed, still no New/Shortcut etc on menu.
Any other ideas. I am not an advanced techie so keep it simple !!!! :-)

Double check to make sure your Desktop folder is still located in your "C:\Users\<username>" folder. I've seen reports of it sometimes causing this issue if the Desktop folder was moved.

Stop press !! After downloading and opening many relevant reg files I have finally sorted out the new/shortcut problem (I've no idea which one actually did the trick.

So thanks for helping with advice.

reduce the browser window size so you can see the desktop. Drag the icon at the left of the address bar onto the desktop. That's it.
