Last I checked they still do - not one of them is unsuable.

But I also registered them to an account when they told us to do so so we could keep them usable.

The last time I tried to activate one that wasn't used was last year when I built this rig - so I know they work up to last year for sure.

I had a lifetime licence years ago but im afraid i lost the account etc somewhere along the lines, I dont use any AV anymore anyway and i havent had any issues since i stopped using it and i use the web extensively(Not what ya all thinking xD). Would be nice to get the account back but not fussed either way

I can tell you this much, Devlin - doesn't hurt to ask their support team. Worst they can tell you is they can't help - but if they can, then you'd have it back.

That is true that is true, Il pop them a message anyway, Isnt something ive missed but i guess if i get it back by asking the question then it wont hurt to have it either :) I was just being lazy xD

I get it - it'd be different if you needed it / wanted it, but since it really isn't of any use, it's something that you didn't spend any effort on recovering.

Yeah i noticed that i didnt have access to the account one day and just kinda left it, But I'ma not be lazy on this occasion and ask the question, As you said, Worst they can say is no :)

I hope the MBAM life time licenses still work after October 2025 to protect any Windows 10 computers that I may want to keep running. I completely agree that MBAM is excellent, I only switched to Defender because I thought that Defender was equally good and it was 1 less program to install. Mind you, I switched at a time when most people were looking down on Defender

If I understand correctly, Full support for Windows 10 is through 14 October 2025, which mean,s if Microsoft follows suit like they have with other OSs, there will be a few more (5?) years of security support.

But, yes, an MBAM lifetime license that has not been blacklisted is still good and should still be good then too.

Uh, you'll still be getting Defender updates after 2025. Feature updates stop when the OS full support stops, but the OS is still supported for security updates beyond that time, and with previous OSs it was for an additional 5 years after.

Or maybe not. But regardless, MB will work. Just don't let your license get blacklisted.

Really? Windows 10 will be 10 years old in 2025, and security updates will be there for 15 years? You may be right, but I think it will be full stop for Windows 10 after 10 years, we'll see.

Edit: No, I don't think I will keep Windows 10 running until 2030 and beyond :scream:

I was thinking a few years after 2025 to gain a few years of whatever I need to transition.

Only reason i use Premium is to keep Defender turned off, things as a whole run so much smoother without Antimalware Service Executable running in the background.

And i don't know what Malwarebytes did in this last beta release but my browsing experience (firefox) is noticeably snappier after updating to it.

I expect so. Windows 7 is long past its end of support, but its Microsoft Security Essentials (same scan engine and definitions as Defender) will continue to get updates until 2023.

I've got 4 lifetime licences from years ago. Running Malwarebytes premium on one laptop as a test. I find that modern day Defender is faster and better at detection and blocking than Malwarebytes. Systems without MBAM use less resources and on an old PC it would gain just running Defender. Just my findings though.

That's only half of the story isn't it, MS also said that Security Essentials is no longer available as a download What is Microsoft Security Essentials?

But a few more years after 2025 is actually all I myself would need.

I know you were joking - jsut stating that, IIRC, the licenses were not authorized for re-sale.

I got numerous lifetime licenses as a tester and volunteer support for them for many years. I have a few that are unused, but reserved for newer machines that my family members will acquire in future years (and 2 that are not currently in use are only not in use because the machines they were originally installed on are running ChromeOS, and incompatible OS).

People really have totally mis-understood anything about latest Ms security offerings. The current security is based on the security based in their AZURE Cloud service ranked as one of the best if not the best in the industry -- from being in the past an absolute joke Ms security is robust, safe, and updated almost daily. If it's passed CIA, US Military, and Mossad certification I'm sure it's good enough for poor old me !!!!

Anyway I'm not labouring this point any further --if you want to install these wretched things because it gives you peace of mind then so be it - but these days on latest versions of W10/W11 FOR HOME USERS (I'm not concerning myself with corporate / workplace PC's that's another issue) but don't kid yourselves that your PC would be any better protected.

What does Malwarebytes or other 3rd party DOMESTIC A/V software packages find that Windows defender hasn't. No point also running past batch historical tests because a new variant can appear at any time rendering all those past results meaningless.

Anyway 'nuf said on this topic.

I have a Windows 7 laptop and its MSE is still getting all the latest virus definitions and engine updates. The scan engine and definitions have the same version numbers as my W10 and W11 machines.

I promise you that I'm not disabling MB on any of my machines, and those with MB I force to still allow Defender to scan randomly as well.

Yes, it's very basic.

But, having a secondary scanner is always a good thing. Again, if you don't believe in the concept of not placing your eggs all in one basket, or that 2 heads are better than 1, great. But I wholeheartedly believe in it. having only one app scanning is, to me, a problem.

For years MB and Defender and its predecessors were after very different things. It's true that things have gotten a lot closer in terms of functionality - but there are things that MB does that Defender cannot do, and there are things that Defender does that MB cannot do.

Difference in my approach and most everyone else's approach is that I don't disable Defender, and in fact I keep Defender enabled.

But with the rampant run of ransomware infections going around, not to mention MitM type attacks, network attacks, kernel attacks, you name it, being brazen enough to say "This is all you'll ever need" is counter-intuitive.
