I don’t believe it matters. If it’s a decent backend it will know to switch to the newly entered key when the old one expires?Even if it did expire first, before you entered the key, it’s only a matter of then entering the key to re-enable the full version, surely?
Not sure if you enter it now, it may start the new subscription and you may lose those days you have left on the old key. I’m going to search their forum/site

I am assuming, once you enter a key, you have control when you use it and on what.

edit:
@Porthos would know, he is in this thread. Apparently I would be correct in assuming when and on what you can use your key, from within the interface.

It's called "stacking" keys. I know it can be done with MS Office yearly subscription (up to 5 years keys can be stacked) and Kaspersky. Very handy when specials are offered, buy a couple of keys and stack for a few years continued subscription.

I found a post on MWB site that said it can't be done, but that was back in 20107. I'd be extremely disappointed if a company with MWB's reputation hasn't changed their system so this could be done.

The Malwarebytes subscription starts the date of purchase. It doesn't matter when you actually use it.

I had a two-year subscription for three computers that was to end on 9/11/23 . I bought a new subscription on 08/18/23. Even though I waited until 9/11/23 to activate the subscription the start date was 08/18/23. That means the updated subscription will end on 08/18/25.

I received a renewal notice from Malwarebytes for $119.98 on 08/11/23. It was supposed to expire on 09/12/23. I went and found a discount code and bought it for $97.18 on 08/18/23. I forgot I was set for auto-renewal and was charged $129.58 on my credit card on 09/11/23. Fortunately, I caught that the same day and was able to get a refund from Malwarebytes. I went back and turned off auto-renewal.

Note that the $129.58 charge included 8% sales tax. I paid no sales tax on the discounted purchase.

Yeah i couldn't afford the subscription version, so i just bought another Malwarebytes 4.5 3 Computer option, and been saving the key since February 21st 2023 lol, this old key runs out December 25th 2023 lol

Well if worst comes to worst, can always purchase another with gift card on Christmas again lol so think i'll be fine either way

I just checked. Malwarebytes still has Black Fridays deals. There are many deals based on number of computers and duration. For example, you can cover 3 computers for 2 years for $79.99 US.

From the posts above, I might be changing my opinion on MWB. If the quoted examples of
- auto renewal payment (they obviously thought the Norton business model was good)
- activation from date of purchase, not when 1st used
- dubious purchase date vs installation date vs renewal date scenarios
all stink of "sharp practices"

It also slowed down my VPN, Private Internet Access, terribly! Support said it’s fault of PIA, and said “their VPN offering” worked fine. I quickly removed MB!

Hello All

Already purchased a 2nd Key, just wondering if its best to wait til Subscription expires to enter it into the 3 Computer systems or enter it sooner is best?
Wait until the old subscription expires.

It is also important where the license was purchased.

The Malwarebytes subscription starts the date of purchase. It doesn't matter when you actually use it.
Yes, if purchased directly from Malwarebytes.
If purchased from say, Amazon, it activates on the first install. If it is a 3 pc license, for example, it activates the timer when you use it on the first activation.

No way would I pay 5 years ahead (especially at my age lol).

What happens if company goes bust, or they screw up invoices etc.?

The reward has to be high enough to risk paying ahead.

Kind of Dirty Harry "Do you feel lucky Punk?"
