Use a tool like TreeSizeFree to see what is using up space. I would suggest posting your findings before deleting things. My reply is regarding the question (for storage space). As OAT pointed out memory and storage are different. If the problem is in fact memory I would change your question and use procexp and provide a screenshot of your hardware utilization for further troubleshooting.

Hi @Marioo
It's storage(disk space) you are referring to, not memory.
That would be a different problem. :-)

You might have too many restore points.
Winkey + R Cleanmgr (enter)
Drive C will appear, click OK
After the analysis, select the top right tab More Options
The bottom portion states System Restore & Shadows Copies
Hit Cleanup, click Yes (it will leave you with one restore point)
Now go back to disk cleanup and put a check mark under everything
Click OK and let it do its thing.

Finding a hard drive that is no longer useful, because of a buildup of garbage files, mainly Temporary Internet Files, from browsers like Firefox and Edge (the only two I personally use), is nothing new to me. I've been cleaning out PC's for a very long time, and returning them to Like New condition. It's all together doable.
I recently wrote a little program (DOS Batch File) that removes those garbage files.
In just 48 hours, on my own PC, my little Batch File removed 186,000 such files.
If I did not clean out those files, on a regular basis, within less than a year, my little SSD would be worthless.
There are many programs that claim to Clean Up a PC, but I've not found many that will remove the Temporary Internet Files from Firefox. And only one, that will remove Tracking Cookies, that can also build up extremely fast.

A single line, that can remove all the old Temp files from Firefox, and can be run from a CMD prompt is:
del /F /S /Q "C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.*"
(Would someone give it a try, just to make sure I got it right?)

Cheers Mates

Whether it's your C: Drive or a Storage Drive (internal or external) you absolutely need to replace it with a SATA 1TB or 2TB capacity. Seriously, hard drives are as dead as floppy drives. SSD drives use to be expensive 12-15 years ago. Now a 1TB will cost you between 50 and 75 dollars.

If your motherboard is modern, it may have a plug-in for an NVME M.2 1TB drive. These are faster than SATA SSD. Zoom, zoom, zoom!

You still afraid an update will delete all your downloaded programs and data. You must have been jolted years ago when a WU wiped out everyone's content in the W10 Downloads folder.

Storage sense removes downloads every 30 days, but since OP is most likely using C, it can not, since it is like a system folder.

In majority of cases, these mysterious large number of files is down to :-

1) lots of restore points - if so just delete them from settings menus and put a limit on how much can be stored,

2) backups from something like File History Backup

3) backups from some other app like Apple backing up photos on pc.

I use Treesize to see what is stored. It is better than tool you used as it shows individual files, so you can usually work out what is storing the files.

Also Treesize is great at deleting such files.

Two problems need to be addressed. First, your "C" drive has over 760 GB of loose files sitting on your root drive. To me, this seems atypical. I would recommend using windows explorer and evaluate these files to see if they could be deleted or moved. Second, find out which programs are responsible for depositing files there and modify it
