I had a big problem with hackers, who hacked many of my accounts, including my Microsoft account. In the settings, I set 2FA to send me codes by email. They advised me to set up passwordless login. I deactivated 2FA and turned on passwordless login. Everything is fine, but I still receive codes by email every day, even though I deactivated it. Can someone tell me what this is about? Many thanks in advance!

Learn how to remove passwords from your Microsoft account to increase security.

Passwordless method still requires to verify, who you are, via various ways you can add/remove.

Once you remove email as recovery, you should not receive any codes.
But make sure to backup a recovery key and 2FA app or add another.

TairikuOkami’s advice is good.

Do not disable 2FA; just remove email a code.
And get a 2FA app. Microsoft Authenticator is really good

Several times over the years people were unable to login, because passwordless was broken for hours.

Every so often, I get login authentication codes from MS, when I was not trying to log into my account. I get a bunch for maybe a week, then none for couple of months. I'm sure it's hackers. 2FA saves my account security here.
